Just bought a used mini.. now what
Hello everyone,

Just looking for some guidance. i have read a lot about the carbon build up and engine clicking. There is some clicking and i was going to take it to patrick mini in schaumburg to look it over but just looking for any help on now that i have one what should be my first steps into making sure its well taking care of? does that make any sense? haha thanks guys.

+1. Also, if you have any service records from the previous owner, start making a maintenance log of what has been/what needs to be replaced/repaired - there should be a .pdf file of the required maintenance schedule for your MINI on here (search is your friend).

Be obsessive about maintenance, rotate the tires often, keep it show room detailed and drive it like you stole it.

Start changing the oil every 5k miles.
We also have been doing spark plugs at 60k as we've found many worn, and gas mileage to slightly improve after changing with the higher mileages.
Also check the engine air filter if it's dirty replace it.
Same with the cabin filter.
Check the drive belt for cracks, 60k it's usually due.
