What Brand Gasoline Do You Use - Top Tier Retailer?
What brand gasoline do you use? I posted this link about Top Tier Gasoline Retailers on another thread regarding carbon build up but though I would start a new one specifically on this subject.

I go almost exclusively to Shell, with occasional stops to a specific 7-11 (gas by my job is very expensive and this particular station is even cheaper than gas by my house). I heard that Chevron is the best to use but they left my area years ago.

95% of the time I buy no name premium on base. Occasionally I toss in a tank of Shell or Chev' for the cleaning (claims).
I just took my 7 to the dealer for a "free check by our service department" aka 'what can we talk you into' event.... when they gave me my results they laughed ... you are one of the few 1 page people we send out from these events .... you need: "missing MINI disk from right front wheel" . . . . my car runs like the day I bought it. No complaints from me and no weird noises. It gets oil every 12 months (I'm low mile driver & do it myself since pre-pay maint' expired) and I just replaced the pads at 45,000 (put EBC green on when new, now using EBC red) - all other filters (air box and cabin) are replaced 'as needed' but I monitor them
I put no ethanol in my 79 once .... only guys in town who sell it are independents ... lots of them serve the local outboard crowd - I'm near the water - but I digress. One day I put 5 gallons of no ethanol high test in my 7.5 gallon tank. Shortly there after car began to exhibit all the same characteristics it did the one time I tried to put mid grade in the car ... dieseling on shut off, stumble on acceleration.
I'm not SURE, but I suspect they might be a wee bit short on the actual octane in their fuels . . . I now buy high test with ethanol and use an additive in the 79

dunno if it (the additive) does anything but the car sure runs better since I STOPPED using ethanol free . . .
now I've been accused in the past of condemning all ethanol free suppliers and I'm NOT doing that. I'm suggesting you check cuz if you are going to have "fuel mix issues" like octane, it is MORE probable it is gonna happen at an independent

I've had 2 BMW 5 series & now have an '05 MCS putting out 210 hp & have always used Chevron (Techron). No injector problems or anything else due to fuel used. Just had a tune up at RMW & was told by Jan to keep using it. It usually costs a little more, but it's a "get what you pay for" situation. It's worth it when you think about a fouled fuel system/gunked-up valves to be cleaned in the future. That will spend all the money you save on cheap fuel. Pay now or pay later.
Always Shell 91 for Winnie. Our Ralphs grocery card gets us ten cents a gallon off of the price, it's only a few blocks away, and it rarely has a line.
Almost every time I am in Costco, they are getting a delivery. They have a high volume of turn over, which some have said means that the gas in the tanks has a lot of suspended particles in it, from the agitation.
Costco is usually about twenty cents a gallon cheaper than the discounted Shell price. So, for a twelve gallon fill up... two dollars and forty cents. And I fill up less than once a week. Yep, worth it to me.

95% of the time, I use "Hess" 93 octane and I only change that when on a trip and a Hess station is not available. I would consider United Refining (Kwik Fill) as it is 100% American petroleum. I believe that Hess is 100% American also.

Been running my 2006 R53 on 93E10 since she was new. Have mostly been using non-top tier gas with an occasional tank of the good stuff. So far so good, 86,000 miles and going strong.
Has anyone else noticed that when switching to E10 that their fuel mileage dropped?

Shell VPower and Mobil 93 depending on what is closer when the last orange carrot goes out. I wish I knew what ethanol content I get, but my state (Mich) doesn't require stations to label their mixes at or below 10%

I need to update this for my town.
I recently had the thermostat water pump issue at 60K miles. While in the shop I had full service done - new serpentine belt, spark plugs, filters, etc. Also had the inspection to check for carbon buildup.
I use top tier premium 90 percent of the time:
Conoco/Phillips 66 (owned by the same corporation)
Chevron/Texaco (owned by the same corporation)
Shell
Exxon/Mobil (owned by the same corporation)
On occasion (for the other 10 percent) I will use premium fuel from:
Sinclair
Flying J (Truck stop)
Pilot (Truck stop)
Truck stop stations usually pump a lot of fuel - so you won't have to worry too much about stale or dirty gasoline.
Yes, there have a been a couple of times where I could not find premium (91) fuel. In those cases I have used best available, and only enough to get me to location where I knew premium could be obtained.
Tech said my carbon inspection looked really good and what I'm doing fuel wise is working. It should also be noted that I do very little stop and go driving with this car. It is a highway cruiser. It regularly makes a 600+ mile trip in about 11 hours a couple of times a month. My average speed over 60K miles is 50mph. So that driving style likely plays a big role in reducing carbon buildup.
Related - I had a conversation with a Mercedes technician a few months ago about top tier gasoline. He said they have few problems with carbon from customers who use Chevron/Texaco (Techron) or Shell (VPower). His comment was "you can pay now (a few cents extra for the gasoline) or pay me later" (for a carbon cleaning).

Phillips 91 exclusively except on road trips when it becomes a smorgasboard. Got some Conoco 93 at MITO last weekend and the li'l guy just went all giddy. To celebrate we had a couple choruses of 'White Rabbit'.
