Alright sooo.. F run-flats...

What shall i get instead of run-flats for 17" rims? I don't care that i don't have a spare. I do have roadside assistance (which i'm proud to have only b/c i can't fit a spare (for all the smart asses)). Right now im running contisport yadda yadda's.. Which have plenty of tread left but are very shitty with noise and control.

With that said.. What are YOU my friends running (non run-flats in particular)?

I'm running Continental DW tires in 17" (summer only). The JustaCooper is running Continental DWS in 16" (all season).

Hankook. I put a set on both a Clubman S and Cabrio. Great handling, riding and low noise. Good rating by Americas discount tire and Tire rack. With rebate about $80 each for the Evo 110. Drove the Dragon with both and handled the twisties effortlessly.
$.02 worth

Kumho Ecsta 4X in OEM size of 205/45 R17. Great UHP All-seasons, the only lingering question is longevity, only have 3K miles on them so far.

BFG KDW 2s are a great option. They are a little loud though but, last and have great handling charateristics.

New Fiats come with a "Fix and Go" tire repair kit. A spare tire is optional for $100.00. The kit is a one piece unit that has a sealant and a portable air compressor. As a result, they do not have to use run flat tires. I'm sure you can purchase one of these, just couldn't find the price.

A can of sealant and a portable compressor can be bought separately and inexpensively. No need to buy the "kit" from Fiat.

Carry a dynaplug kit (primary) along with slime (secondary) and an air pump.

Budget? Summer tire? Winter tire? All Seasons? Dry climate? Wet climate? Occasional track use? So many different options, will need more info before making a meaningful recommendation.

That said, I recently put Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the GP. These are an outstanding summer street tire, which can also handle rain very well. Car and Driver recently ranked them 1st in a measured comparison test (see current issue of C/D)

Your tires are insanely important to the performance of your car.

HUGE fan of the BFG KDW tires. Best dry/wet tire I've ever used. The Mini will be getting a set when the stock run flats are used up. They do make noise, but it's not as bad as you think.

Bridgestone Blizzaks are the best winter tires I've used. I know you guys are talking about Mini Coopers, but they make a Camaro drive like it's on dry pavement in the snow. I remember pulling up to another Camaro that was struggling to take off at a stop light in my Camaro and asking if they needed any help. When they refused my offer, I said "Ok!" and took off like the pavement was dry. A light foot and the right tire makes for happy winter driving. Drove my Camaro through nine straight winters. I've never been stuck in it.

If you do get winter tires, do not run them outside of the snowing season. They will wear out prematurely.
