Are you a MINI "lone wolf" in your family?
I never mentioned this since joining the forum. My dad told me I am the only one in my whole family who drives a MINI! Not only that, I'm the only one who drives a British branded vehicle.
That got me wondering, is anyone else on this forum all alone? What do your relatives think about the MINI? A cousin on my mom's side thought my Clubman was cute. My sister-in-law and her boyfriend love riding in it too. Sadly, I'm still the only one in the family (other than a cousin from California) whose car headed WEST to the States when imported. My Cali cousin drives a BMW 3-series.

I am the only one in my immediate and extended family that owns a Mini, not sure about past first cousins though. As far as I know, I'm the only one with a British branded car too... My mom wants to keep mine though
Same. Only one in my family with a MINI and only one with a british made car. I actually think my mom and dad are the only ones on both sides of the family who have german cars as well. (07 A4 and 06 330cic) Both sides of the family pretty much all own american cars.
Lone MINI owner
They all have seen my MINI, and they like it.
Words like cute have come up also, I tell them its like being 16 again and just started driving.. Soooo fun and good gas milage also.
I even traded in a Honda Civic Hybryd for my MINI.
I have to say it does not get mid forty's MPG, but the fun and grins it puts on my face is far more worth it.

Were the only one's in our immediate and extended family. There are Honda's, Toyota's and even some domestic cars. Everyone likes our cars but they think they are a little pricey. Plus they like that fact that the cars they drive run on regular versus premium. No real negatives though. My children really like the Coupe.
Me too. It's my third Brit vehicle. First two were MGBs.
There was that 2001 Civic SI I had that was made in UK, but I don't count that...

My MINI is also the only one in the whole family, for as far as the eye can see. No known relatives. Hubby has a Ford truck, son has a Jeep, a Mitsubishi Eclipse, and an old El Camino. The rest of the family varies between classic American cars, a sprinkling of old VWs, Japanese imports, and trucks. Winnie the MINI stands out like a bright red pimple. Love her though!!
Yup, the only MINI owner in my family that I know of.
Though with the MINI, we now have all four major German brands covered in my household. The wife's 911 and M-B, my 914 (covers both Porsche and VW, though they are kind of the same company again), and the BMW connection of MINI is the last one.

My wife & I had owned an MG Midget many years ago, but returned it due to all the problems in the first 6 months of ownership.
Now I own a Mini S and my wife hates it and thinks its a girls car and its a stupid car and refuses to even ride in it.
She like her Miata; ???????????????????????

My cousin has an R56 S, and my aunt has an R53 ... They convinced me to buy mine.
My father's always been a BMW fan, though. He's owned a number of them in the past 25 years or so (87 325is, 81 733i, 91 535i, 02 Z3M, and our 73 3.0 CS project). As far as British cars go, my mother's last vehicle was a Land Rover Disco II, which she traded in 07 for an 06 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas.
Worst thing about cars built in the UK is the depreciation ... My parents regret buying the Jag for as much as they did back when it was almost new.

I'm the only MINI owner in my family as well. My grandmother loves it and wants one of her own, my brother, dad, mom, and pretty much the rest of my family were surprised by how much room there actually is inside, though mom is still convinced that bigger is safer and that I'll get run over by an 18 wheeler or some such.

Oh the irony. First good laugh of the day - thanks! Mine is the only one in the extended family and one of only 3 Euro cars - I also have a BMW and my brother has an Audi. So far the whole family thinks I'm nuts for loving this car so much, except for my brother in law. He's a total guys' guy who used to think they were just another little girly car... until he drove one.
I have a 2010 Justa (traded in my 2008 Justa for it), my wife drives a 2008 S Convert, my son has a 2008 S hardtop and my sister has a 2011 Justa. Other than that, nobody in my entire family has ever owned a MINI.
Actually, I think they're losing a lot of their cachet now: there's too many on the road. Mine use to be the only MINI I'd see for days. Now I see 3-5 a day on my 20 mile drive to and from work. I'm thinking of trading in for a Coupe just because it's unique (for now).

I'm the only one in my family with a Mini. Two of my three siblings want one, especially after going for a ride with me in mine. And, yeah, all three of the girls in my family (including my mom) said "Cute!" Then I proceeded to scare the bejeebers out of my mom when accelerating through a sharp turn.

Only MINI in our family...and really, with my wife, the only (remaining) auto enthusiasts. Everyone else just drives car-appliances, nothing special.
[But back in the day: brother and sister both had 2002's, I had my autoX spec'd VW bug (tuned exhaust, f/r sway bars, Koni's, Empi short shifter, reduction pulley, dogbone Dunlop radials). Was quite the German driveway.]
Our lunch outing the other day: my mother-in-law's first ever "English car" ride.
This is the first UK-made vehicle I've owned...but lotsa seat time in much of the classic stuff, through friends: E Jag, Healey 100-4 and 3000, GT6, BGT, Midget, Bugeye Sprite, MG 1100, TR4A. Never a Mini, though...I'll be stalking the classic owners now to coax a ride in one!
Oh...and my dad owned a Hillman Minx, way back when. Yes, the only one on our block.
