Hi from Canada.....we are now the proud owner of a :
2012 MINI COOPER Classic, Knightsbridge Edition.
I don't see anything on the invoice like the model R56
It does however say SU33...is that our model #?

We've had a classic Mini for years and years so I know those quite well
but don't know the new BMW MINI very well.

I know there are first gen and 2nd gen MINI's, but do we have a 3rd gen
or is this a new model designation for 2012 maybe? I understand this
might be one of the first SU33's sold in Atlantic Canada (maybe even the first), though I do see the Knightsbridge package (ZKG) advertised elsewhere in Canada too...St. John's/NF and Calgary Alberta.

Any insight?

2012 MINIs are still in Generation 2. Sorry, but I don't know about the "SU" designation. "Classic" Minis are the group your 1987 belongs to.

If you got a hatchback then it is a r56.

 

it appears to me that the designation you question is the "model code". i.e.:
SU33 Copper Hatchback, ZN33 Cooper Convertible, ZF33 Clubman, ZB33 Countryman, ZP33 Copper S Convertible, SV33 Cooper S...
R56 is the "model series"...
and Gen2 is the "design series"...

In Canada, are you forced to buy gasoline with alcohol as an additive like we are in the US?

I think the premium/high test/highest octane stuff doesn't have that in it.
