FYI - I went to www.newministuff.com and at "Check Out" they wanted 50 dollars for VAT !!!!

They cannot levy VAT on exported merchandise.

Be aware and make sure you don't pay it to them or any other vendor in the UK. May have to send them an email before ordering on line as it seems their system defaults to paying it

Goods being exported outside the EU can be zero-rated as long as you:

• <LI added="null">ensure they leave the EU within set time limits (typically three months)
  <LI added="null">keep satisfactory evidence of their departure
• hold sufficient evidence from your accounting records to prove that a transaction has taken place

 

Good to know, with the exchange rate we need every advantage we can get.

 

Ya that would have been nice to know about 3 months ago. Though I did not pay that much so it really didn't matter.

 

Yeah nice mark up on the stated price huh, because I doubt very much any of the VAT collected from us ends up at Windsor Castle.

I've ordered from newministuff.com lots of times over the years and I've never been charged VAT on my purchases from them.
