2012 Interior versus 2011

I thought I'd share an interior shot of my 2012 Cooper (justa) since I know some people have wondered what the differences are.

I wonder if someone would post an interior shot of their 2010 as well as a 2011. Curious what the differences are myself.

I can tell that they finally made the volume **** more normal in the 2012 (but I think they did this in the 2011 actually?).

Here's my 2010's interior for comparison:

Not very different. I know that in models newer than mine, you can chose more colors in the ambient lighting.

Thanks for sharing.

You're right - not very different at all.

I didn't realize that they had removed the center console columns in the 2010 (or was it 2009?). I thought that happened in 2011 (never like the look of the columns myself).

I also am glad they changed the **** - always look a bit lonely all by itself.

Personally I really like the interior on the 2012 - though I still feel the center speedometer could be smaller. I liked the size of the 2000-2001, but not complaining!

Anyone with a shot of their 2011 interior?

They didn't remove the arm rest if that is what you're talking about with the center console, it is merely an option. Mine didn't come with one because the original buyer didn't opt for it.

Actually I was referring to the dashboard console - here's a pic:

Hard to see, but they are open on the sides...

Oh... are you talking about the openness of the center stack at the bottom?

I never realized it was open because my mother's R50 has extra gauges installed in that area and I don't have much experience with the older gen MINIs.

Yes, exactly.

Sorry for the confusion (good photo!)

The only real differences I can see between the 2010 and 2012 are the surrounds for the switches and the CD slot and the other trim on the center console. I wonder if those different colors are due to the different interior trim options between these two cars? Or if they are due to the model year difference?

I'm pretty sure my Justa will have black surrounds; I did not opt for any of the colors for the interior bits.

I think they did just make the surrounds black instead of the earlier silver color in the newer models. Black looks more mature, but I can't decide what I like better!

Here are some pictures of my 2011 JCW's interior. Except for the black dials and the red trim and stitching on the leather, I think this is typical for a 2011.

Here's a shot of my 2011 R57. I've sat in the 2012 and the interiors are identical in so far as I can tell.
