Mini Configurator

Has anybody heard when the Configurator will be update on MiniUSA.com with the new 2012 information. The new coupe has it, but none of the others do. It has ben showing this note that it is coming soon, bu no date is given. Any ideas?
As always, thanks for any info.

Spencer

I have the sneaking suspicion that they're waiting for dealerships to sell enough of their 2011 cars before they flip the switch for 2012... My guess is they'll switch on Oct 1st, but that's just my WAG...

The online configurator is late every year, without fail. Buyers for next year's model have always started taking delivery long before the configurator is updated.

Yep, but it'd be nice to start configuring one's order without having to go though the dealership who may or may not have all the necessary information.

I understand they want to sell the few remaining 2011's that have on the lots, but how does the 2011 configurator help them do that? You can't custom build or order a 2011 so what's available is whatever is on the lots. At my local dealer that amounts to exactly ONE 2011. I ordered a 2012 today based on photocopies of 2012 option sheets given to me by my sales person. It was very frustrating because I couldn't see anything and it wasn't at all clear what was required with what and what was available and what wasn't. The MINI Yours options and the new packages made the whole process very difficult. I hope I like what I ended up with sight unseen! There's no excuse for the update being this late.

As the pop-up window you get when you go into configurator explains, you can take what you've built to your dealership and they'd help you find on their lot whatever come closest to what you're looking for or convert the order into 2012...so in a sense they design this to help drive business to the dealership who might be able to sell any remaining 2011's. Makes sense from the MINIUSA and dealership's perspective, but annoying to those of us who prefer to order exactly what we want.

"Annoying" doesn't even begin to describe it especially when no one at the dealership seems to know much about the changes for 2012.

The 2012 configurator is up and running.

Now I am looking at the Laguna green wondering if I should switch to that from Electric blue cabrio.
