A 2011 is a "Second Generation" car. You have classic, first generation, and second generation. Second Gen began with the 2007 redesign by BMW/MINI.

Welcome to the Obsession!

You do in fact have a second generation "new" MINI.

If you have a "Hardtop" 2011 MINI you have an R56 model.

The rest (I'm pretty sure but corrections are welcome):
1st Gen MINI
R50: MINI Cooper Hatch
R52: MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S Convertible.
R53: MINI Cooper S Hatch

2nd Gen MINI
R55: Clubman
R56: MINI Cooper Hardtop
R57: MINI Cooper Convertible
R58: MINI Cooper Coupe (Just Announced)
R59: MINI Cooper Roadster (Not out yet)
R60: MINI Cooper Countryman

FYI, while the rest of the product line switched over to 2nd gen starting in 2007, the convertibles took a couple more years to catch up. Therefore, 2007 and 2008 convertibles remain 1st gen cars.

And.....1st gen cars are the best! (Love that supercharger!)

the classics are described by "mark" .... MK1 thru 5 (I think) ... usually in Roman Numeral. Mk-I being the most classic - external door hinges, sliding windows, rounded grill and rounded tail lights, the 'dangling' boot lic' plate hanger and magic wand shifter.
