quickie cruise to the MINI dealership

Had to drive all the way to dealer to buy a silly small part, the last time I was there was for a whopping $7k engine/motor replacement due to dealerships ignoring my whining about cold start issues.

My mom and my dad followed behind me in their Tacoma because we met up for dinner. We rolled up, and a fat man with a sales name tag approached my vehicle as I stepped out of my car, (I parked where they had cars on display for sale, oh well) "Oh hey there son! Looks like you just detailed your mini, looks nice. Is your family considering to upgrade that beauty one to of our newer S models?"

I paused for a second.. looking at the new minis, and immediately responded with a snooty smirk: "Is your company considering to finally issue a recall on all turbos for the Timing Chain tensioner problem?"

..and I hurried off to the bmw parts area. *burrrn* Hit'em where it hurts!!
Just had to share because I felt so witty! Okay that is all.

Typical dealership selling tactics....always try to buy your car for less than its worth, sell it back for at least 2k more than they paid you, and up sell in a new car. Yet they continue to whine about how this recession is affecting them....

ahhhhhhh, sounds like all the salesman did was ask one simple little question. Thats how he makes his living. They buy low and sell high. Its called profit. Its the American way.

I can understand your dissatisfaction... up to a point.

Seems to me that you took a sniper shot at the sales guy when all he was doing was his job.

Did that salesman know anything about your issues with your MINI... I doubt it, he just approached you attempting to do what he was hired to do... sell cars.

An innocent victim in relation to your situation and you took your shot... was it really necessary? Witty? I think not... that is all.

Not really funny at all. He works for the dealership NOT MINI. What was the point of your comment to him??

Smirks and a witty remark to a "fat" man that just finished complimenting you while doing his job? And in front of the parents?

The real hurt didn't happen at the parts counter. I couldn't imagine your parents being thrilled to witness their son's anti-social behavior.

"No, no I'm not looking to trade it in mister, you are the one who sold it to us in the first place. The company you work for, as a whole, had ignored our constant complaints about issues that led up to the death of my "reliable" mini's motor. Your customer service operators constantly gave us the turnaround, as well as corporate replying to emails with a 'our-engineering-is-not-responsible-for-that-sort-of-issue' type of attitude, and only receiving sympathy from the manager giving us a new set of wipers and a free car wash. After a month of repair we receive a mini with greased up pillars, 2 empty diet coke cans on the floor with sticky soda residue all over the passenger floormat, and a missing tow hook cap. I wish I was able to personally thank them for respecting the vehicle that we had purchased from the company they work for. I am truly sorry we are no longer willing to contribute to the company you work for, especially when you approach us as if we have never met you before; Now I will make one last purchase: a tow hook cap that one of your service employees misplaced. Goodbye fat-man." (yes he calls himself the fat guy).
***OKAY, this would've been a more genuine honest response rather than my witty/snooty one before right? happy guys?

edit:
and My mom always reminds me with a "I told you so" type of attitude ever since this all happened because when we purchased the vehicle it took alot of convincing and she was very skeptical. *shrug*
