Exhaust Question...

I am looking for an exhaust mod or system that will increase sound under light to moderate acceleration while increasing low end torque (under 4500 rpm) or at least maintain the stock 2011 s torque curve. I assume that as the engine breathes better with exhaust mods, horsepower and torque increase, but the curve is modified up to the higher rpm range sacrificing low end torque.

Thanks
gary

AKRA EVO...u cannot go wrong with this....pricey, but the quality is just superb...the welds, like no other, and proven gains...i have it on my M3 and i plan on getting it for the coopers as well.
Its Titanium...

Hard facts:
  • plus 8 HP (at 5.900 rpm)
  • plus 7 Nm (at 3.400 rpm)
  • minus 4 kg

Those numbers are with the turbo back exhaust including down pipe. I think the titanium is only for the tips.

If you get the cat back, the hard fact numbers are:
Plus 2 HP (at 5,500 rpm)
Plus 6 NM (at 3,530 rpm)
Minus 2 kg

Have to say that is a lot of $$$ for those gains. Just my opinion.

ur absolutely right...Akra is not cheap by any means...but if quality is what you're in to, then u certainly get what you pay for...ive seen exhausts that look like tin cans and shitty welds selling for a few hundred bucks that can produce way more gains than akra, but id never put those on my car and ghetto it out

Oreos,

I recently installed an exhaust in my R55 Clubman. Check out this thread, it has a ton of info, pics, video and sound clips.

I went with Remus after trying to other brands...

That was a good write-up...

Do you know of any dyno charts for the Remus? Looking to retain or improve low end torque.

The only way to improve torque is to do a tune. Exhaust is very subjective. I found the Remus to be the best of both worlds, very nice sound, no drone and an increase in the butt dyno. The Alta and Magnaflow both nice, but found I lost a little in the lower end and they droned like crazy, made for a very loud cabin at cruising speeds...not what I was looking for.

I just did JCW stage 1 and am VERY happy with it. This thing really pulls hard now and just keeps getting better through the power band. It's amazing, it's like a completely new car.

I did a JCW factory one on my 2010 "S"

Provides that sound change as you mention w/out obvious drone. I haven't seen published performance/dyno type stats. In my case the "factory" JCW exhaust, rather than the Stage 1 (kit) one. There are some differences, and some prior posts (including one w/ experience w/ both variants) suggested less drone w/ the factory flavor. Both are available. In any case, very happy with it.

Ummm for $2100.00 I can give you a LOT better return for your money in power than that exhaust. Just my 2 cents

The Ackra tips were more expensive then my whole exhaust system (Magnaflow) minus the. Down pipe. Way over priced in my book.
