Where do all of the "high mileage" mini's end up??

I've been looking around for a nice used mini. I'm would like to find something around 60,00 miles or less.

After searching ever day for the last few weeks.....and going through every mini I can find in a 300 mile radius....once thing really confuses me. Where are all of the really high mileage mini's at?? It seems like I rarely see any over 110,000 miles......and I've yet to see one over 130,000 miles. I find it hard to believe that there are no used 02', 03', or 04' mini's floating around with 150,000-200,000+ miles on them. Why not??

When they get up that high are people just junking them? Are they parting them out? Where are they going?

Just seemed odd to me....I was wondering if you guys could shine some light on the question.

The daughter's 05 has ~110,000 miles and is still like new. I think a lot of people that have high miles intend to keep their cars forever....at least that's our case.

To me 100,000 really isn't that much...especially for an 02' or 03' car. I guess the people that have the 150,000-200,000 mini's just decided to keep them because they can't get much money out of them?

Do they ever end up at auctions?

Do a search on Autotrader, 02-05 for your model year, under 10000 for price and no limit on the radius from your house. You will get hundreds of MINIs, the vast majority of which will have over 100k. Most in this mileage range will be priced from about 6k to 9k.

I just like to look sometimes, to see what kind of shape these cars are when people are selling them.

i have wondered this too but came to the conclusion that mini owners will hold onto theirs alot longer. This being, because Mini's & their owners alike are very unique and often very attached to their minis. It was hard enough to let go of my 06R53 with 17k on the clock with all the "memories" we shared. I couldnt imagine letting go of one after 100k or so.

I dont want to sound goofy but IMO its true,

Majority are probably kept and the "grocery" getters sell them off or probably part them out.

Also, I think that compared to other brands, a higher percentage of MINIs are likely to be "weekend" cars or second or third vehicles, so they may not see the 12-15k miles per year that most cars see. Plus, even the oldest MINIs are only about 10 years old now.

Lastly, there just aren't that many older MINIs out there to choose from in the first place compared to other brands. It took MINI from 2002-2007 to make the first million cars, while Honda alone sells more than that in a single year.

As of 5 days ago, Harold had just passed 425,000 and he is now 85 years old. His not was that he passed 425k at 75 miles per hour.

I think it's cool reading some of those posts on the first page of people like "Ohhhh somedayy I'll pass 200k too!" and then seeing their signatures marked 240k+ miles

I agree about the 100k miles on an 02 being not a lot, my 02 Nissan Xterra has just over 108k and people call it old (although it is showing its age a littlee)

That's because where he is going, they don't need roads.
