radar detectors
Nah - Cops typically use a different band than grocery stores. If it picks up an alternate signal at the stored location, it will go off.
That's true. Most of the automatic doors use K-band and most law enforcement now uses Ka-band. Around here there are still a few older K-band units in our local and county vehicles to keep us on our toes.
Thanks for all the input!! One of the reasons I like the V1 is the bogey counter. the Escort does have a nice feature with the speed cam and even the stop cam information on the GPS, so this is also a considered RD for me. Last year I was a proud recipient of a $100 ticket in lincolnwood (Chicago area) for almost stoping then turning right on red, oops G@&D2m!^. So the GPS feature might have an advantage in certain areas. The back roads of Wi. however, I am most concerned with having a reliable RD, and again the bogey counter may help and I like the possibilities of upgrading the software as upgrades become available. Is there a question of intent if one receives a speeding ticket when you have a RD in your vehicle?
I used to have an escort 9500ix. I like the GPS feature for marking known false threats, Photo enforced red light camera warning, and auto adjust on the volume.
However after almost being caught twice since it already blocked the K-band at that place, and once with a quick trigger (instant-on radar guns but used in less than 3/4-1 sec) I switched to a V1. It was horrible at first, because it kept on beeping, but learning how to set up auto mute was the best thing ever. I like the arrows and bogey counter, they are very helpful if you're driving on the same road everyday since you already know where the false threat is at. So when the arrow doesn't shift with 2 bogeys you know there's something else in front of you.
Get the v1 and check out how to set it up on logic mode with auto mute, in small "L" mode. And if you know that there is no cops in your area using X-band make sure to turn it off.
*** O I forgot if you live in a big city like chicago, LA, etc i'll go with a 9500ix. It'll be so much better.

Not so much a question of intent to speed as more of an intent to stay legal.
I purchased a V1 just because it's too easy to exceed the PSL (Posted Speed Limit). The MINI's FF (Fun Factor) far exceeds my ability to control without some sort of intervention. I do not intentionally try to exceed the limit, but lets face it, it does sometimes happen. Remember as long as it's legal for the coppers to use extraordinary measures for entrapment, and as long as RD's are legal to own, we should at least be able to even the playing field.
Check out Radardetectors.net, interesting information.
