And your gas prices are...?
Got lucky the other day. Gas prices were down and I filled up with premium at $3.33/gallon (had 10 cents off, originally $3.43). The very next day gas jumped up to what it is now, $3.79/gallon.
Just filled up Austin today and I was testing to see how much mileage I could get shifting at 2K RPMs. Well....I was SHOCKED that I made it to the gas station with 401 miles on the tripometer. I normally don't go that low on gas but I was showing my dad the gas station that has Supreme without ethanol.
Gas cost: 4.00/gallon
Tripometer: 401
Gallons: 11.5ish (don't have receipt on me)
Manually calculated MPG..... 35!
Normally I drive sportier and I get 32.5-33 so not a huge jump but it shows me what I can get out of the car.
Now I put some gas additive in since it's that time....Italian Tuneup this week =)

Being from Canada it's a little different, but one thing I have noticed is that regardless of what car I'm driving, I get much better mileage using US gas than Canadian gas. It's at least 100 Km more per tank! (that's about 60 miles more)! Add to that the lower price for gas in the US and it makes for some wonderful numbers showing up on my spreadsheet. Even with a crappy exchange rate it lowered my operating costs by almost 20%.

I was just reading the other day that the reason prices in Europe appear so high to us here in the states, is because their fuel is taxed to living h---. I believe it was something like 50% of the total price. If you removed the taxes, the raw product was about the same price as we pay here. I thought that was interesting, because the article was saying that we haven't been getting away with anything special in the states with the myth of "cheap gas", its just that we aren't taxed on it as heavily.
Yikes! $4.50 in Canada! I guess I won't be using my Jet Ski's that much when I bring them up this Summer. It's not that difficult to go through 5 gallons in an hr to 2 hr period. What's the price of diesel? I'll be pulling them up w/ my truck.
Thanks,
Dave

Yeah thats crazy!
The point of the article was that the US has never really had "cheap gas" compared to anyone else, what we've had is "cheap taxes on gas". Either way, I'm glad this MINI is getting 32mpg so far.
