3.44 here for regular gas. I know I need to switch to premium. Had the car 2 weeks and put in a bit of gas twice and each time was regular. Think I'll do premium next and see if it runs better. On regular it seems to struggle at times.

So you got the car and it had premium and you've been adding in regular...does not sound like a good idea to me. Not say you just murdered your car but if say something does happen don't dare mention what you've been up to to your dealer. They can already be sticklers about where you buy your gas but I'm sure they would not honor any warranty work if they knew you've been using regular...I don't think saving a couple bux when you've spent so much on your car already is worth it...No doubt if you search the boards you'll find endless threads debating the merits of choosing which gas...sorry about the rambling but my jaw just bout hit the floor when I saw your post.

It says in the manual that using regular gas doesn't void the warranty. They recommend using premium but not required. At least not on a regular mini. I did plenty of research on the merits of gas quality and most of the time I found out that unless it says "required", then it's fine.
Found a lot that said it was bad as well.
Main thing I went with was this... http://www.cartalk.com/content/featu...ium/myths.html
usually those Car Talk guys know what they are talking about and do their research.

3.78 liters in a gallon x $1.30 = $4.91
but if you are using Canadian $ then $4.91CAN = $5.05US

Last I saw our Corner Shell Station V-Power 92 was running $3.85, I'll be fueling up the Molly Car later today so I'll update then.

I fuelled the Molly Car tonight, Fuel Prices as follows:
Shell @ Cascade Park Dr, Vancouver, WA
Regular 87 $3.63
Mid-Grade 89 $3.73
Premium 92 $3.85

So I go to check GasBuddy.com to see if they posted the Octane Ratings, 'cause I'm not sure of the Mid-Grade Rating and someone posted that the prices have fallen since my Fuel-up @ 5:00pm this evening.

Regular 87 $3.62
Mid-Grade 89 $3.73
Premium 92 $3.82

Doh!!

I filled up last week at BP w/ 93 octane at $3.25/gallon. I wasn't completely empty, but still took $37.00 to fill. I'm nervous to find out how much the price has jumped since then

Too <explitive deleted> high!!!!! Especially with an 80+ mile roundtrip to work. I was never one for the various conspiricy theories, but the latest meteoric rise despite the fact the the US only gets something like 6% of its oil from Libya just doesn't make much sense!

This was a couple weeks ago. Fuel is $4.00 now and I get 6 mpg. I hold 300 gallons if I am close to empty now I can't fill completely up because the pumps only go to $999.99!! So filling my Mini feels kinda good?

$1.38/litre for 91 octane here in Vancouver. That's about $5.22/gallon. And don't forget the 12% sales tax.

Yeah we have. After seeing prices in Canada & abroad I don't feel quite so bad about sub-$4 per gallon prices. Just wondering how far it's gonna go this summer.

Yesterday at my favorite gas station, it was $3.55 for regular and $3.75 for premium. Hey, no one calls it ethyl anymore!

Really...? You may want to read a bit more on that...Not just forum posts but info from government sites and such.

There are alot of different formulations out there for particular states and areas, differing alowances for ethanol content (bad!), and some distributors have alot of additives that can cause buildup and other problems (Texaco comes to mind).

Rgds,
John

I'm not saying it's all Bible. There's a lot of interesting reading for and against being picky what you put in your car.

Ethanol is bad, yes, but here in Chicago, we don't have Chevron etc. and so far I haven't seen a pump with less than 10% solution.

I don't think we've seen the "bottom" prices yet, wait a few more weeks and as we drift into summer, I think we'll be all adding from 80 cents to a buck from today's prices.

$3.86 a gallon last time I filled up at Costco. I toss in a can of Seafoam every couple months and it's cheaper than "top tier" brands. Costco gas is fine. Been using in my Mini since day one, almost 70,000 miles ago.
