What Steering Wheel Is This?

This wheel was on my 07 R56 MCS, when I first brought it to the dealer for an inspection the service tech mentioned that the wheel is not an original part to the car, something about it being a Euro model. We were curious and pulled it off and typed in the numbers on the back and it didn't come up in the system. He said it's a Euro or Canadian wheel.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? It works as it should, I just replaced it for the sport 3 spoke wheel.

It's not a "Canadian specific wheel", ours are the same as yours (accept the Canadian ones steer better )

The thing that sounds strange is why would a German company, making cars in England for the North American market have different steering wheels for each Country? When GM is making a car for North America the only real difference is that the US car has MPH first on the speedo and Canada has KPH first. Are you sure the service tech wasn't getting high on his lunch break

Here's a shot of mine

My money is on a euro-spec JustaClubman steering wheels.

When the R56 first came to the US in 2007, for a short time the 2-spoke was standard and 3-spoke was optional (as it is in Europe). However I thought this was the case only for the non-S, so I'm surprised you had one on your MCS. Sometime during the first year, MINIUSA made the 3-spoke steering wheel standard across all models.

Prior to '07 it was an option which carried the cruise control and audio controls known lovingly as the MFSW or multi function steering wheel.

In the U.S., 2-spoke steering wheel was standard for the R56 (3-spoke optional) until about 4/2007. Look at this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...l-options.html

Thanks for that info. The car has a production date of 1/2007, and the dealer said it came with the 3-spoke sport wheel.

Still odd how the part number on the wheel and airbag do not show up in the dealers system.

Those wheels are also for the minis in Japan. I found that out after driving the R56 in GT5 and noticed the wheel was a two spoke.
