Very Nice - I just completed a round trip from Lansing, Mi to Tucson AZ and tried to use Shell gasoline exclusively - I found that in different states the available octane changed - from 90 in one state to 91 in another and 93 in some states.

Unfortunately I cannot recall if the pumps displayed the formula for arriving at the octane number - In Michigan I believe it is an average of two numbers and local stations sell 93

Anyone else notice this variation?

Yep octane changes per the state. Some as low as 90 so as high as 93/94 and then some states like Florida have gas stations that sell 103.

Fun to see those "old" '67 Ferrari F1 cars. You were really out there in the open, it was possible to get distracted from your driving by watching the wheels bouncing up and down, one season I drove a Lotus Formula Junior car. Lot of fun but I felt very exposed to danger sometimes.

I use Shell VPower almost exclusively. I can definitely tell the difference when I'm forced to buy a box-store brand like Wal-Mart or Krogers.

Yup also very very dependant on elevation... I remember being on a family roadtrip when i was little, asking dad why they had (84 or 85 i think) up high in the mountains lol

That's amazing. That gas is so good that one of those Ferraris can run with the tennis ball plugs still in the intake horns.
