Grande Punto has been consistently scoring good sales volume for Fiat in world market. In India too Grande Punto is doing well, thanks to Fiat India’s sensible pricing. Now Fiat is planning to further sharpen Grande Punto’s edge in Global market. Fiat is planning to launch Punto with new 1.6ltr 16V Tritec engine. Fiat is enjoying the success of Punto Evo in almost all market it is present. Fiat Grande Punto 1.6ltr 16V Tritec version will hit road by 2010 March, probably in Italy. Then other international markets launch will follow. The 1.6 ltr 16V Tritec engine will develop 125hp power at peak and will return better fuel efficiency as well. Fiat Punto will be the first model to use this newly developed engine. So Fiat will be telling good bye for the 1.8ltr Flex engine manufactured by GM.

Still crappy Chrysler motor BUT, with MINI/BMW maintaining it it was a great motor. Cause Pt Cruisers are not highly reliable compared to the R50/R52/R53.
Chrysler put a 2 liter version on the Tritec engine in European Neons, and PT Cruisers. They did not use that engine in the U.S.

Correct on non-US models wrong displacement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tritec_engine They use a 2.4l here in the US which meh I still don't like. I am not ripping on the R53 motor at all I just don't like Chysler at all.
