aarrggg!!!

Ok, so get this. I'm heading home last night and have to stop for gas. I pull into a empty lane, open the door, and WHOOSH the wind pulls the door out of my hand and BANG right into a rough stone pillar. Luckily it just caught the edge of the door and didn't scratch the paint anywhere that's super noticeable. Just on the rolled edge of the door. It did however slightly dent the edge. I pounded it out the best I could when I got home so it's not so noticeable now.

And to top it all off, after the whole door indecent I opened the gas tank door and the body color part of the door pops off and starts to roll away. Thankfully except for the embarrassment of it all it snapped right back on.

My heart goes out to you...

I hate any kind of dings, dents, or scratches!

Hope things fare better for you and your MINI and like iamsteve says, the first is the hardest to take and that the future holds no more surprises like this for you!

Luckily when the door is shut you can't really see the scratches so in that respect I lucked out.

Ouch! I am so sorry.
That's got to hurt.

When I brought Little Wing home for the first time, my husband suggested that I purposely sideswipe a bush in our yard and just get it over with right away.
I did not take his advice.

I learned long ago to keep hold of the door and to park just a little further away from the pump with the gas cap lined up with the 91 nozzle.

It hurts but ain't much you can do about it.

When I had My 98 Corvette I backed into a space at Winn Dixie and opened my drivers door easy to be sure it cleared the curb. It cleared the curb but not the %#$*&^ stupid sprinkler head that stuck up out of the ground. It was my first scratch and it made me almost throw up. The scratch could be seen every time I got into my car. It cost me $75.00 to get it repaired. I did totaly destroy that sprinkler head and told the manager why I did it. They had problems before with peoples doors hitting it so they just capped it off and The Manager gave me a $100.00 store credit to cover my greif and damage.
I was lucky because the body shop was repairing a Torch red Vette and already had the paint for my car or it would have cost a whole lot more.
