Great iPhone app for mini owners!!!
Just came across it, it's called mini link. Let's mini owners communicate, share favorite spots and whatnot. It even has a feature where it automatically sends a wave to another mini owners iPhone. And you can even create a little replica of your justa, cooper s, Cooper (s) vert, and a clubman (s).

You should still kill the app when not in use, constantly sending your GPS information will murder your battery.

Kidding, of course. But a lot of us integrate the iPhone or have chargers in the MINI, so battery life isn't an issue.
4.0 will give MINI Link the environment it was meant to have: always on. Hoping MINI scales their system to handle the added traffic.
Running GPS constantly will drain a battery very quickly, but if MINIUSA implements MINI LINK the way Steve Jobs wants it used, it shouldn't put too much drain on the battery. At least in the 4.0 demo yesterday, he was explaining that the location announcing apps would use the cell towers to determine location while apps that need accurate locations would use GPS.
I just tried out this app and it's quite fun, but I only found 1 Mini and it was 452 miles away, although there are "breadcrumbs" in my area. I was hoping more people would use it. It would be great fun on Mini runs.
Been there, done that.

It would be better if it handled multiple cars better, and AT&T had more extensive coverage.

It would be better if it handled multiple cars better, and AT&T had more extensive coverage. Perhaps if it alternated between cars when multiple cars were in the same location. That would give a better indication that there was more than one car there, and provide the opportunity to send a wave to a particular car. As it was, people were puzzled that all they saw was my silver MCS.

MINI USA, just a quick note to ask for an iPad version of MINI Link app :-) The iPhone version, which I use all the time (nearly 800 points currently), doesn't look as good as it could on the iPad.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I'm not sure what they did to this app, but today, while riding passenger, I had the app on pretty much the whole time and saw about 10-15 MINIs on the map not too far from where we were. It was awesome!
Yeah something has changed with this App recently.... Till today I have NEVER seen any other minis listed. Today I saw a TON and apparently there is one like up the road from where I live even... I think they may have set the app to now just show your last location logged in or something. Get to waving back people.
Yes something has changed, but it still needs help.
#1. It only shows the orange dots down the left side of the screen.
#2. My "motoring Points fluctuate. Sometimes it show 81and the next time it will be 125 or higher.
But I do see more minis.

MINI Link
I also noticed a dozen more MINI's in the Denver area in the last couple of weeks, but I wonder if they are fake ones placed by the Administrator because they never seem to move.
Also what prizes have you gotten when eating a "Power Pellet"? I mostly get the Robot MINI or Punk MINI with purple mohawk, but the other day while in Rally mode My MINI got 2 rocket engines and wings and an American flag roof graphic. The rockets burned fir about a minute, it was cool.

MOTORING POINTS
There is a MINI in my part of town and he stays logged in 24/7 and he is up to 986 MOTORING POINTS but he leaves it in RALLY MODE all the time. I think that has some thing to do with it because when I run it in rally mode my points go up over 300 and then drop back down to 180 the next day. I am still trying to figure it out.
MINI Link
_I pass by a MINI that is close to the freeway and is always logged in and I get a wave and it seems like its automatic just because cars get so close on the map. I just checked the user settings in the "View My Waves" and I have 2 Hi's from Mathew, 2 Let's Motor from Markus 1 from Ben and an "Aloha" from Rick, so it seems to work out here.
_I have been trying to post some of our clubs events on the map but it doesn't like to hold on to the data, still trying to figure that out.

Sin MINI,
You Go to the "user Settings" the place where you put your name and VIN, if you touch the screen and push up there are 2 more pages down there and the second one is the paint shop. I hope that helps.
