I have had this for about 3 weeks and tonight is the first time i can see more then 2 MINIs. For the most part the only thing I was able to see were a few hot spots and the MINI dealers. I occasionally see another MINI on the map but for the most part they are just little dots.
Also I have given my MINI a name but each time I run the app the name goes back to "MINI"
Also how do you know if you are logged in?

I just got an email today from Mini USA about the app. I guess it takes time to get the message out.

I'm In.!!

Just downloaded the app. It took a few tries to get the VIN to work but it finally recognized me. Very lonely here in Arlington TX.

Waiting for more to get the news.....................HELLO!!!

It will get better!

Nice app though.

It would be great but due to the crappy battery life, I constantly find myself turning off 3G, turning off SSH, turning off locations, turning off email just to make it to 3pm without my battery dieing.

If I "turn off" any more features, I may as well use a Motorola Star Tac.

Point is, with all that crap off, you can't use this app.

As far as having it run in the background, if your phone is jailbroken, you can use backgrounder and it will stay running.

How does one know when you get a wave?

What are those red dots?

My friend has been sending waves to people all over the US and has yet to get a wave back.

If you get a wave from "Cookie Monster" please wave back to my friend Lynn.

Well I'm sending you one right here, since you're in South City. I worked there for many years in an earlier life. I hardly recognize the airport any more nowadays.. and the 101 freeway as it snakes around it. Big changes in the last 20 years.

Now if anybody who's involved in programming is reading this, it would be great for some sort of buddy/friend implementation, so that you can hunt down your friends by VIN or through a buddy list section.

Maybe even a "take me to my friend", using the current latitude and longitude. There are way too many possibilities, and I agree with everyone else here, the phone is the only severely crippling problem, which is such a shame.

Hi Mark,

If you're using your iPhone in the MINI, you could be charging it at the same time, No?

Personally, I don't have an issue with battery life. There are tons of ways to keep the battery charged.

Yes, there are tons of ways keeping the battery charged, it's just maintaining a charge without having to recharging all the time.

If I was to use my phone as normal (phone calls only but still leave location, 3G, SSH on, my battery would die by noon. (I turn my phone on at 5-6am))

Installed a few days ago. The only thing I'm curious about is that it won't save my MINI's name. Whenever I open the ap, it shows as "MY MINI" and not "CHIBI S". Hmmm.....

So far I've recieved waves from:
MBM
Cookie Monster X3
LOST
Zubs
Will

I'm in the East SF Bay Area.

I love this app, and had some fun today running around picking up power pellets others had left. The MINI on the screen puts on a cute/freaky show when you hit a power pellet and I think gives you 20 points or so.

I'm having the same problem---everytime the app is closed, it changes my MINI's name back to "MINI".

My friend, Lynn, (Cookie Monster is the name of her Clubman) has been waving to everyone. I guess she got a little carried away.

KevinC gave her a wave but she is not sure if she received it. What happens when you get a wave? Does your phone make a sound or does something appear on the screen?

The dots appear to just indicate something in general, you have to zoom in to see what they are (otherwise it'd just be a big jumble of icons I guess)...although it's kinda buggy at keeping them shown.

Well SSH means you're jailbroken, have any other extras or hacks installed, or backgrounding any apps? Might be something in particular (like some poorly optimized hack) sucking up battery life, it shouldn't be dying that fast with just some phone use.

And the app not remembering car name appears to be a bug for everyone. Also there's no plain sunroof option. Guess I'll submit those as feedback.
