Best Creeper to get under the car
Best Creeper to get under the car
I am looking to buy a creeper for my husband and his Mini. Obviously he needs one that stays pretty low.
So what is the best creeper for working on Minis?
Thanks for your responses.

The Bone! Slings you down lower than most creepers, has much better wheels, and the son of the inventor is one of our earliest NAMers!

Harbor Freight has a nice one for $16.95 with a coupon found in many auto magazines. It would not last for commercial work - but for a weekend MINIac it works great and at a great price.

I bought the cheap plastic orange Harbor Freight one. It was money well spent. As STLMINI said, you've got to jack it up to get under it regardless ...
Looking on the HF page, I don't see it listed. I just see the ones with the metal rails on the sides.
The thing I love about a creeper is that it makes it so easy getting under the car and getting out from under when you don't have the tool you need with you :(. Also, you stay clean so if you need to start the car, you don't have to worry about dirtying the seat.
One thing about the plastic HB one, it is advertised as 300lbs capacity. The "safety sticker" and instruction sheet say not to go over 250lbs and if you are closer to 150lbs, it still bows enough to scrape the ground when you sit on it (not laying) on a slightly uneven surface. Bottom line, I've already gotten plenty of use out of mine.

Does anyone ever feel the need for a creeper with an adjustable headrest? I don't have a creeper, but when I do work under the car not only do my back and arms get sore, but also my head from keeping it picked up off the ground to look at things under the car, or keep the back of my head out of a pile of metal/rust/dirt/oil/etc.
Does everyone feel the normal creepers are ok or do you still find yourself suffering from neck fatigue?
The bone creeper looks pretty comfy. If it's really low and light enough to say, hang on a wall, I might consider one.
