My Second MINI Cooper Cake

about two years ago I made my first MINI Cooper Cake using buttercream. HERE is the old thread. Well, after watch way too much "Ace of Cakes" and "Challenge" on the food network, I decided to step it up and try using fondant. Here is my second MINI Cooper cake. (this was made for a local member being deployed to the Middle East)

Great Job! It would hard to cut into that -- but a lot of fun choosing who gets what part of the Mini!

Very nice! I want to do some work with fondant some time. Did you make your own, or buy it pre-mixed?

I made a cake last week for my mother-in-law with homemade Marshmellow Fondant. Tasted great but was kinda tricky to work with. For the MINI cake I bought some fondant from Jesters Cake Supply (I bought the "FondX" brand). Was definetly a little easier to work with.

SNOOTER! We just talked about you in our Free Classic Mini thread. (I didn't know who you were.) Anyway, you're in FL too!

I... like you... totally addicted to Ace of Cakes. I molded the front of my Cabrio out of fondant as my first fondant trick... never made the cake though. I will finish it for a cake this Christmas probably and I will use that fondant MINI then. I have only made two cakes working with buttercream and fondant. (The pics are in my gallery.) No Cooper Cakes yet though.

Just wanted to say "Nice JOB!".

I've made the Marshmallow Fondant too. TASTES great but I just end up using the crappy Wilton stuff from Michael's as a kind of last minute freak out. Anyway, so the stuff you bought at Jesters... does it TASTE good? Wilton's tastes YUCKY!

the "FondX" tasted very close to the marshmellow fondant and no where near as crappy as the Wilton. I've been told the "Satin Ice" brand is taste good too. I've been told that Duff of Ace of Cakes uses in too.
