I love the Photochomped versions guys! I'm still unsure of the trailing roof design myself.

A targa top would be super sweet as an option. Its suppose to wiegh 200lbs less and the same power as the r56 MCS. It would be about 14hp/1lbs ratio from the factory. And for the JCW with the current numbers its running now would be even less. This car could be a serious hot rod on the road. If it isn't priced to expensively I will consider it almost garuntee buying it. But I gots to keep the hothatch too cause I like the looks of it.

Well I was looking at the http://www.motoringfile.com/2009/08/...he-mini-coupe/ and it has some pictures. One of which shows the middle rearview mirror which has the control for a convertible top just like the Cabrio. Not sure why but one could hope that it might have something to do with a removable top. Cause that would be straight gangster. I am starting to kind of get ansy about this car. I might end up getting one.

None of them show the control panel for the convertible roof. None of them show the inside of the roof at all. The rearview mirror "control" you're referring to is the rear view mirror "dip switch" on the bottom middle of the mirror surely?

Im thinking maybe that is for a sunroof control? That would be awesome if it was for a detachable hardtop though!!

Nope...One of the last pictures on MF shows a guy pressing one of the buttons on the headliner switch panel...and one IS a convertible top button.

Ah, see it now. That's one from the AutoBild set (like the one with the Mac too). Perhaps they took that snap and it got through without "BMW Quality Control" noticing. Strange.

You can see in this photo too: http://bilder.autobild.de/ir_img/679...74dfac2f05.jpg that the interior roof is in sections.

Maybe they're from another photoshoot of a very similar car that AutoBild will also be revealing soon?

No idea.

Sure, you can talk! :p

A few of my posts to this thread with various photoshop efforts haven't made it past the moderator queue though, so I'm not sure I'll be able to post it when it's done.

I'll put it on Flickr if nowhere else though.

Wont be anytime just now, have beer and food calling...

I love that special interior too. I wish that would be an option. And yes it is in the center lever part where the interior light controls are and it look s exactly like a convertible. It even looks like the top is off. http://www.flickr.com/photos/motoringfile/3857849960

Ok really do we need to see 700 hundred different copies of the same car?

Somebody (hardingsan, I'm looking your way) obviously hadn't had enough, or they wouldn't have asked for it.

Nobody HAS to view them anyway.

The reason I am getting disgruntled is I was hoping for discussion about the new MINI not how many different colors you can up with.

So... talk.

Personally I think it's really nice to see a "concept" that looks so close and ready for production, and even if people haven't spoken much in here, the regular motoring news sites seem to be buzzing with MINI stuff, which is good, even if as many are mocking it as liking it.

I want to see the Roadster/Speedster really though, that could be awesome. Pretty much the Coupe without the controversial, some might say awkward top.

p.s. I'm putting my crayons away anyway, only scribbling on request now, like the green backside above.

thanks for the color change! that's exactly what i was looking for.

discussion - i like it. i wouldn't ask for different colors if i didn't want to drool over it. i agree that the roof transition in the rear needs work, but i think everything else is just fine. i don't mind how close to the rest of the gen 2 line it looks, i like that. someone somewhere mentioned to consider this the gp of gen 2 and i think that fits perfectly.

i see it competing against the audi tt if anything at all, not the miata or the s2k. but i agree with the mf review. this isn't competing for market share this was created for the mini enthusist that already exsists, not to necessarily drum up more sales to new owners.

just my 2 cents...

The transition looks so much better from the top. http://www.flickr.com/photos/motoringfile/3859072642 It is a midwing/spoiler. It even looks like it might be removable. I know this is a concept so you never know the end product might have this as an option. I like it cause it will help slightly in the aerodynamics especially with a nicely styled spoiler. Heck those of you that have been photchopping the crap out this car should show one without the spoiler

The spoiler follows the roof line so closely, including the "bumps" either side, it would be near impossible to "shop it out".

The spoiler does apparently lift with the tailgate though.

since the first shot i've never minded the roof spoiler. i think it's integrated into the design enough that you couldn't remove it and to me, it doesn't stick out as much.

like i said, the only thing i don't swoon over is how low the roof wraps around the door windows.
