New stripes

I had new stripes put on my MCSC and I am pretty pleased with the results. However, when I was cleaning my car, I could see a faint difference in the paint where the old stripes were. Is there something I can do to even out the appearance of the paint? Its not that noticable, but it bugs me.

Yah i think i can barely see a difference, but that could be the glare. I thought about doing this, but i was scared that this would happen.

Can I ask where you got your stripes done and for what $$? I'm interested in replacing mine with a very similar design.

If you notice a color difference where the old stripes used to be, it's probably down in the pigment below the clear coat, so polishing won't help, but after a few months of being exposed to the sun, the previously-covered area will blend in better with the rest of the car. The rate of sun-fading isn't a constant over time, so the paint that was under the old stripes won't always "lag behind" the rest of your paint as far as fading goes.

What... you don't think pink sport stripes would look good on EB ?

I can guarantee you it would be one of a kind. And your car would match your clothes most of the time.

Do think there would be a bigger difference in fading with a flat as compared to a metallic? I was thinking that a metallic may blend more........

Hahaha you know it's funny you say that-I know someone that has been trying to convince me for months to do light pink stripes! I was afraid it would be too much.

Hmmmmm.... light pink. We need someone with photoshop skills to go into your gallery and modify a pic for us.

And hey, Fred, FWIW, I can't see any faded areas in your photo. And Scott is right, the previously covered area will catch up with the uncovered areas soon enough.

OP: The blending in of the previously decal-ed area will depend largely on how long the original decals have been on and how exposed to the sun your Mini experience. I had my factory bonnet stripes on the Mini for 2500 miles or so IIRC and then switched it to rally stripes. Now at 6800 miles, the paint is well blended. Mine's a metallic color.
