Extended warranty payback

Let's get a tally of those who purchased the extended warranty and had the purchase price pay for itself with claims. Just answer yes(paid for itself), and no(it has not paid for itself) or not yet(it has not paid for itself yet). Include the year, model and current mileage please.

Edit: I meant the extended maintenance warranty.

You mean the MINI Extended Service contract to 6 years or 100K miles?

(Be careful not to mix the words and use "Extended Warranty" that is a total different animal..)

I paid $1,350 plus tax for my 6 years/100K mile MINI maintenance extension back in August 2007. So far I have gotten out of that investment:

- New rear brakes and pads (Around $700 at dealer prices)
- 45K mile oil service pit stop (Around $500 at the dealer, I have to check)
- New Clutch kit and dual mass flywheel installed almost 1 month ago ($2,500 repair bill as this is a 9-10 hour job).

So in all and all I have gotten back nearly $4,000 worth of repairs/service out of my initial $1,350 investment. Not bad at all.

My 60K mile service is coming up and aside from oil/filters and wiper inserts I will need new front brake/rotors and the engine belts all replaced under the extended plan.

Not bad at all. If you drive at least 15K miles per year and plan to keep your MINI for a long time (And you are not a DIYer), then this MINI extended service plan is for you.

The MINI Extended service plan was purchased for a 2005 MCS 6-speed hardtop with 52K miles on the clock. The car ran out of warranty (4/50) in early December due to mileage. Car was purchased brand new in March 2005.

Anyone else want to chime in on this? What about third party extended warranties? I am trying to decide if I should get one on a recent MCSc purchase ('06, 30k miles). Thanks!

Check your other post, this is referring to the extended maintenance plan. Plus this thread has been dead for over 2 years. Good luck with your research on the extended warranty. See what your local dealer sells. I took the easy way out and bought my extended warranty from the company my dealer uses. I figured they had a good working relationship and so far my last claim proves that to be a good assumption.

I just bought an extended warranty 5 yr 100,000 miles but not from the dealer.
The dealer's contract did not cover wears and tear or seals and gaskets.
The genuine MINI warranty was expensive and started on the "in-service date" which provided very little protection time wise. The contract I purchased started on the contract date for a full 5 years hence. Just be certain the
administrator is A or A+ rated with BBB and the insurance company backing is at least A with AM Best and Co.
