Other than that the price is predicted to drop further, you would need to add Stabilizer to store past a few months.

Worst outcome is that gas fumes are heavier than air and will settle to floor with no way out, there are usually plenty of ignition sources in your basement. We are not talking about fire here, but explosion when the fumes go off, whats left will then burn.

91 Octane is recommended for both, but 87-93 is approved, they are both High Compression,
but the 'computer' will adjust timing for lower octane at higher load and no detonation will be allowed.

I have been on the same tank of 'Regular' from when that was all that could be found following Ike.
Now down to three 'petals' and plan to fill with another tank of the regular 87 Octane.

No change in performance that I can detect on my just'a Cooper, but an 'S' might be effected more.
It actually has a lower compression ratio, but after adding the compression by the turbocharger,
it has a much higher total compression.

It has been reported in NAM that some SA's have been advising regular for the MCS as well (for smoother starts)
and a careful check of your MPG's over a few tanks will tell the truth, as well as how it 'runs'.

There are a few stations here selling premium for just over $2/gal. I am sticking with toptier gas and was thrilled to pay $2.15 for 93 octane at the Shell station today.

Ummm...You thought wrong??!! ^ As the poster above mentions all MINIs prefer a Premium Grade Fuel. Molly will be given nothing less!!
Our '01 Durango gets 87, but it also costs approx. $55 at gas prices today, no wonder it sits in the Driveway!!

$1.33 for reg here in KC , it cost $15 to fill up my MINI on Wed, only about 5 months ago it cost over $50!

I wonder how many of those who sold their SUV or big truck this summer for pennies on the dollar are now mentally kicking themselves?
