MINI of Mountain View worse?

Is it just me or is MINI of Mountain View getting worse? I went there last Saturday to get an oil change...yes I know I can do them myself but I live in an apartment area and its not really allowed, but it took 3 hours to finish. Also when I got my JCW Aero kit installed they either forgot to put back the fog light cover on the inside wheel well area or it was loose and it fell off. Either way I asked that it be replaced and after I was told that it was my fault my SA said he would replace it, which on the paperwork says it was replaced. I check today out of the blue and...ITS NOT THERE. I don't know how easy it is for those things to fall out, but my guess is that it was never replaced. On top of that when my car was supposedly completed I got a call saying to come pick it up, but to my surprise it was not ready and I had to wait another 40 minutes to get a car wash where all they did was run it through the machine with my car dripping wet waiting for me in the parking lot.

I understand that they just started Saturday service, but if they can't handle the business don't book the appointments. All the SA did was complain about his job.

MOMV needs to have their dealership revoked. Seriously.

File a complaint with the BAR and CA Consumer Affairs.

There's plenty of BMW dealers from Stockton to Bakersfield that would love to pick it up.

Yes. Their corporate overlord (AutoNation) tried to screw the quality service employees on their contract, and the employees went on strike over it. AutoNation has far deeper pockets, and were largely able to wait out the strikers. Many of the best people are no longer there, and you're seeing the direct results of the new semi-competent staff now being paid "by the job". The strikers warned that under the new model, your car would be worked on by undertrained people who get paid more to do the job quickly. I'm not surprised to hear that poor quality work is being done, and that the employees who are left are openly dissatisfied with their jobs.

Find another dealer. East Bay MINI treated us very well during the strike. Thank you for sharing your experience; it makes it far less likely that we'll ever return to MINI of Mountain View for service or our next MINI purchase.

It is sad, I purchased my car there and was pleased with my MA and my first time going there for service, but this time was a disaster in my opinion. Sadly this is only a couple miles from my work so its convenient, but I may be taking my business elsewhere.

After recent events at MoMV, I will never bring my MINI there, or purchase a car from autonation.

It's best that the car was dripping wet. Most dealers leave lots of nice scratches on the paint when they dry it off. Best thing to do is to ask that the car not be washed at all. Unless that is you like scratches.

I've never had a good service experience at MoMV. It's far closer to my home, but I make the drive to East Bay when we need something.

Poor SA attitude, poor communication, etc.... is why I found a very good independent shop to go to, that and my 04 JCW/MCS is so heavily modified ( No wait a minute) it got that way because of the little things I did do would tic-off the dealer to the point that they would find ways to charge me more for work done. I'll stop here, you can always say FTD... & go independent

only reason I use a dealer is because its free for now, and never had a problem with mods at east bay mini. After maintenance warranty is up all work will be done by me.

Mine was too, but when you go to pick up your car for a warranty radiator job and are told that it took 3 hours to take an Alta light bar off (2 bolts & unplug 8 wires) $400.00 please, I'm at a loss to understand it, Give me a healthy Gorilla and a sack of bananas and I'll teach him to do it in 20 minutes or less. I don't mind paying when I know there's no BS going on.

What was said was "We'll need to remove your light bar ,so whatever that takes will have to charge you for" now they have the car half apart, it's Friday I have a club run that weekend that I have been looking forward to, so I tell them go ahead Get'R'Dun. At the end of the day I get a call that the car is ready for pick-up, I get there fat, dumb, & happy to be told it took 3 hours to remove the light bar, yes there was a discussion & I was told that the tech had told the sa that's how long it took, when I asked to talk to the tech I was told he had gone home for the night, how about the manager, no gone too, so they have the keys, they have the car & they want paid, go home without my car I don't think so. I pay the bill & as I motor away the sa tells me I should have never mod'ed the car in the first place I came very close to violence, but no, one better I can vent here & no I won't tell you what dealer it was, let's just say it was in the East Bay that this sad story unfolded.

If you used a credit card, I would have filed a dispute with the credit car issuer.

Hindsight of course, but ALWAYS pin them down on the costs of things before giving the go ahead.

The one thing I've found at some dealerships is the lack of understanding the product they are selling and servicing. To them it's just a paycheck, now I can only speak for myself when I say it's more a lifestyle, a way of communicating who I am without saying a word ,and I know for some of you, your thinking this guy needs help in a big way, but before we go there look at the guy next door with his Harley Davidson (yes I have a few of them too) but do you see what I'm trying to lay down here. This is my statement, this is what is important to me and I would hope the dealers would know and understand that, it's my baby and to my face you can tell me what a lovely baby it is, and after I've gone be true to what you really think, but get my business first and try to keep. But often as not I've found employs that exude ignorance and apathy ( I don"t know & I don't care). It would be nice if they knew the history of the Mini/MINI ,how one became the other but they would rather tell me about their Hot Rod Civic. I'm sorry to ramble so I'll stop for now.
