Just in case your auto windows quit working...
I thought I'd post this here because if I put it in the 2nd gen section, it would miss the other sections. (clubman, etc)
For those that have auto up buttons from the factory, if the auto up function quits working, you'll have to relearn the system.
Today, my '08 auto up on the driver's side quit working. The windows learn by holding the switch up and keeping the switch "pulled" in the up position for 5-6 seconds.
I'm not sure why it quit working in the first place but it did and making the window relearn cured the problem.
Hope this isn't a petty post but just in case any of you come across this... there it is.

Thanks for the post
I'm going to have to try that..it isn't so much that my windows stopped working, but its more of they act on their own.
I.E- If I try to lower them both at the same time (or even 2-3 seconds apart from one another) they go crazy. Drivers side goes back up and the passenger side goes up/down.
Same thing happens when I hit the air conditioner and a window goes up/down.
Hopefully this fixes it!

They have to be reinitialized. I don't know if that will cure your problem but I hadn't come across that in the mini. I know in our bodyshop, we have to reinitialize windows for different makes all the time.
BTW, do both windows at the same time, not one at a time.
Let us know if that helps.

Well. Finally had some time today to sit in my MINI for more then my usual five minute drive to work.
I'm pretty sure I did it right, and so far. It hasn't happened again.
I even had my extremely bored co-pilot have at it with the controls.

Glad to help guys... I agree, it's one of those pieces of information that you may not need now but later on, in the back of your brain you'll remember you read a post about it and then not be able to find it when you need it...lol.

Just saw this post, but cannot get to my vehicle until later. My driver's side auto up randomly goes up to within 1" of closing, then comes back down to halfway, and does this 2-3 times in a row, then closes fine. This exercise happens every 3-4 days, apropos of nothing I can see. Should I try this fix when it is actually misbehaving, or just do it when I get in?
