I'm done with waving to other MINI owners, and I'm done looking at "stock" Minis on the road. If you want me to wave, you better wave at me first, because I waved to couple of Mini owners last month, all three drivers just stared at me. I seriously felt like an idiot. I had a big smile on my face, waving to the drivers, (even flash my lights during the day) and they just looked at me like who the F#ck are you waving at or flashing your lights dude. But I do have to say, every time I see a modded MINI, we both wave...

IMO, a MINI is no longer a car that is driven by a MINI enthusiast, rather, MINIs are purchased to save on fuel.

Aww, I still wave, but it's usually the "Joe Cool" peace sign, or straight arm out the window, like "Wave if you want, don't if you don't, that's cool, but I'm bloody cool-waving you and I'm self-aware enough to not give a crap if you don't wave back". Kind of a "New Jersey hello", of sorts. I'm not giddy waving my little brain out like Saturn owners used to do, or people do to babies. That's ugly.

(reading that over it sounds kind of cold, it's not meant that way!)

I have to admit that I have stopped waving...
Too many MINI's in town that are owned by BMW employees that couldn't care less what car they get from their company to drive.
So when you wave at them they just ignore you like some freak that just escaped from the looney bin.

I now only wave a friends in MINI's or a MINI that is clearly owned by an enthusiast (must have visible mods or Dragon decals).

MINI's are still somewhat scarce out here, so I'll wave at every one I do come across. I do get a lower ratio of return waves from R56 drivers though, which must be the "I'm saving fuel" crowd.

I've discovered that if I make an effort to catch the driver's eye, and they respond, I get better waves. Otherwise, I'm just catching their eye and grinning like a crazy person, and it's no biggie. I DO find it odd though, that other females don't wave or respond as often (I'm a girl, too, so...)? Hm....
