Not getting a sense of a MINI community on the road
Eh, I've given up on the waving.Only people giving and returning waves I encountered this year have been on the Dragon. Day-to-day stuff? No. There is one particular DS MCS that I occasionally encounter on the road near my home. Instead of waving, though, we do the more proper greeting of blasting through the three roundabouts and racing each other.

I've had Junior for roughly three months now a I've pretty much given up on the whole MINI love thing. Here in NYC there are a crap load of MINI and a whole lot of ignoring me. LOL.
That said today I got my first MINI smile since the first week I got Junior. She was a cute brunette driving a red MINI in Yonkers. Hi

While I'm new to the whole Mini scene, when my friend drives his, he points out Mini's on the freeway and they usually wave. If they pass us (which is rare since he drives like a nut), most people wave, unless its some blue haired grandma.
But still, what fun. Its great to have that comradery out on the road. Once I get my Mini, I'll wave at every one.

I was rather surprised yesterday:
I was pulling out of a coffee shop parking lot, when I saw a cute girl in a yellow VW (new) Beetle waving frantically with a huge smile on her face. It took me a second to realize she was waving at me. This is one of the few times I had someone I didn't know wave at me from a non-MINI. That definitely made my day.

So I've had my MINI for a bit over 24 hours and I'm 0 for 3. My husband is making fun that I'm continuing to wave while repeatedly being ignored. I told him that I'm going to continue waving and I know eventually someone will wave back. Clearly those folks who've ignored me, don't have MINI etiquette.
I got ignored by a Hot Chocolate Clubman today. She seemed very distracted, though.
Oh well! I'll just wave until my hands fall off and I have to drive with hooks.
I noticed the other day while in traffic, that someone on the otherside of the road (going the other direction) in a very nice Mercedes was checking my MINI out. I was kinda shocked!

Hey!!! Good day for me...3/4 waves!!!
That's the best day yet! Nice day here in Portland so everyone is out and about....
I'll never give up waving...Getting a return MINI wave is like the search for the Holy Grail to me now!

Dillard Farms Ice Cream Run - Greer, South Carolina
I don't know if it was the MINI's that turned them (Guy with cute girlfriend) on or if it was MINI envy.
We have this challenge at EVERY Club event - to the point where some of us go and help our folks park so it looks nice!
(I've found that anyone who drives any other car regularly, then gets in the Mini (self included) tends to overestimate the length of the hood!)

Having had my MINI Clubman since Friday the 15th, I am 5 for 7 on the road waves.
One of the no waves was a driver who looked as though he was zoned out in rush hour traffic. The other was a "wealthy brat" from Birmingham/Bloomfield Hills who appeared oblivious to the MINI Community.
Mommy and Daddy probably bought her a "cute" convertible because she "deserved" it for being able to eat on her own.

for quite some time and went through the intersection at least a minute before it actually changed to green.

I use to have a Jeep and I can say that every Jeep I passed waved regardless of their age. I have noticed that, around here at least, when I pass another Mini, more often than not, they do not wave. Unfortunately, I think that there are a lot of Mini snobs. I love the car but the drivers can use some work.
Saw two justacoopers today. One, a chili red cooper, was a kid about my age (mid-20s) and gave a wave right back to me. The other, and oxygen blue cooper, was an older woman who waved to me before I could even wave to her first.
Does the southern hospitality disappear down in Raleigh? Cuz we certainly have it up here in VA.
