Couple noob questions

1. Do all Minis have the push button start, or is that only with the keyless entry option?

2. I saw a picture of a two-tone red steering wheel. Is that available with multifunction, or only without?

3. The boot stripes matching the bonnet stripes -- do people just order extra bonnet stripes and get them put on by a detailing shop?

I don't know about the other questions, but I believe all MINI's have the pushbutton ignition. I test drove the 2008 S recently, and without the convienience package, you still put your funky key into its slot and use a pushbutton ignition.

These are the viper or sport stripes and they offer them for both the bonnet and boot.

You can order them on the factory build or do them aftermarket.

Yeah I was talking more about bonnet stripes continued on the back rather than the sport stripes. I've seen several folks here that did just that.

1.) Yup, they're all push-button-start. Even the BMWs are now push button start.

2.) I think the steering wheel color doesn't matter w/ the multi-functional wheel....that might be a dealer question....

3.) You can get the boot stripes after-market (try Aesthetic Creations vendor on this site) and put on by somebody (which I recommend if you're not used to it...mine look awful so I have to redo them!) but I dont' think you can get those from the factor/dealer. The dealer may RECOMMEND a decal-installer, though. If they can't, ask them who their recommended body shop is, and go to the body shop to find the decal guy.

I think you loose something with push-button start on the new ones. It is just so much fun to turn a key.

1. The 2nd gen MINI 2007+ R56 has push button start. Not sure about the 2008 convertibles though.

2. If you opt for the MFSW, I think that if you get the red rooster leather steering wheel, the dealer puts the multifunction controls in the new steering wheel.

3. Aftermarket boot stripes... yup..... put on yoursef or pay for a bodyshop or decal person to apply...

Having the push-buttons kinda tends to freak you out when you drive an acutal-key-car!! When I drive my truck now, i forget it's not pushbutton, and I keep trying to "shift" (it's an automatic.) I look rediculous! At least I can laugh at myself I guess...

Nope.....never put the fat key in the key slot.......stays in my pocket....
Just put foot on brake(have "AT")push start button....& away i go....to turn off the engine, push the same button,2x`s,engine,sirius off......keys never lost...
unless they hop out of your pocket.....however dont think you can lock the keys in the car.....because the remote may not let you......being there in the
car....so you can`t activate the door lock....from outside the car.

.02 cents worth.......MNE MEE (lic plate),Henderson,Nv.

the 2008 Convertibles does not have the push button start! I test drove a hard top with the push button and asked if mine would have one and my MA said no! bummer I was hoping it would!
