Think you drive a lot?

Well, I've had my MC since 3/17/08 and I'm currently at 13k miles. Looks to be almost 52k miles a year!!

I better start thinking about paying my loan down quick, this thing isn't going to last the full 60 months!

Did you go to MOTD? That would definitely account for some of them.

11 oil changes??? I was under the impression that MINI uses full synthetic that's supposed to go at least 10K miles. Did that change?

I'm sure I'm going to burn through a massive number of miles in my first year... Why must there be so many fun things to go do in a MINI!?!?!?

There is this guy featured in Whiteroofradio (MTTS Chicago) and he owns a 2002 MC 5-speed (Plain jane model) with 281K miles on the clock. He says the original brakes lasted him 181K miles (Yeah right), the 5-speed midland gears transmission is still original + the clutch (Another yeah right) but one thing I believe him is that he has followed the computer oil change intervals to the "T". So in 281K miles he has only gone with 15K mile intervals between oil changes.

So is it a myth and a waste of money to replace synthetic oil before 10K-15K miles?

You decide!

If you drive a lot of freeway miles, I'd think twice before getting the extended maintenance agreement.

I don't know if the R56 is the same way, but on the first-gen cars, freeway driving *really* stretches out the interval between OBC-recommended services. On my car, the first service didn't come due until 12,500 miles, the second service didn't come due until 33,200 miles, and the third service is looking like it's not going to come due until about 52,000 miles.

At 20,000 miles between services, getting a 100k mile service agreement might only get you three extra services after the standard 36k agreement ends, and at least one of those extra services is just going to be a simple oil change.
