How to heel-toe shift (video tutorial)

Hey guys, I just found a great how-to video on WonderHowTo teaching you how to heel-to downshift. We've all read the instructions, but seeing it in action makes it much easier to learn...

The driver's not in a MINI, but it's still cool to see the actual footwork from multiple angles at once.

Here's the link:

I really want to make my own video of this, and I think I will, this week if I have time.

Good find though.

Yeah, you definitely should! A good video in the MINI would be best.

Cheers,

I have a small desktop tripod, one that sits about 8 inches high, but is wide. That will work for me, but I need a way to keep it in place down in front of the seat. I'll try messing around with zip ties and string.

Wear some better shoes. His shoes look like he wears them cutting the grass. Bad props make for bad production quality.

there actually was a guy teaching how to drive a manual on youtube..he was driving a mini and teaching..it's a pretty well informed video..
i think if you search how to drive stick manual you'll see it. and im pretty sure you guys wont miss it cause we all should know our own interior..

honestly i dont know exactly how to do the heel-toe but im goin to learn!!

and OH..if you click on the video and look at his other videos he does shows more 'advanced' techniques

Along with the video swapping out the stock rubber pedals on the Mini will help a lot towards better shift technique. There are quite a few good aftermarket pedal sets out there that will do a lot better job than the rubber Mini pieces.

Rubber? Mine are aluminum... What year is your MINI? Didn't realized they switched 'em up...

I think he is talking about the little overlays. While mine are Al as well, they have rubber on top of them which can be slippery.

I have the origional style all black rubber pads, I resently replaced them because they wore out. They provide the perfect balance of grip and slip.

I'm running into issues ripping the video to my computer, but I have the footage filmed. It looks good. I'll try to do a voice over to sort of narrate the heel-toe process.

I will try reinstalling the video ripping/editing software and go from there.
