Shift lock delay on cold start?
Hello all, my wife has an 09 base cooper with auto trans and 43k miles that has been having an issue shifting from park after it has been sitting for awhile. When we first start the car, we hit the brake, hit the button on the shifter and drop it from park but it refuses to budge for 2-3 seconds. Once the car is running for those few seconds, it shifts normally and if I turn it off and back on, it shifts no problem.
Is this a built in nanny system to keep you from shifting too soon on a cold car or is it indicative of some other issue?
I poked around the forums for the last two days and didn't find anything so I am sorry if this is a known thing that my searches just didn't find.
Thanks!
