Traveled 438 miles , took 11.429 gallons @ $4.09 a gallon Shell 93 octane, Getting 38.32 miles to the gallon.

Man this is great I was hoping for 35 anything above would be fantastic.

*Lousy new MINI's with your 6 speeds in even base model Coopers....* Way to go. And I thought 30.1 was good in about a 50/50 split.

I'm doing about 35mpg on the highway in my 2006 MC manual. Tthat's with about 70mph average speed. Yeah, the high engine revs kill the mpg on older models but it's still pretty good.

HemiHeaded ;
I was looking at used ones at first. Had my eye on a 2005 LIB with 33k miles for $15.5K . Then I found this website and miniusa configurator. Saw the regular MC now comes with 6 speed. Better gas mileage. 4 year warranty.
By the time I paid taxes on a used one and licensing I would be over $16.5 k . So for $18.7 K I could get a new one. lol .

At least that is what I told my wife

Then 30 or so configurations later, and way more dollars than I wanted to spend to get a car with good gas mileage.

I have a car that is awesome !

+1 for the 22 mpg around town in an older MCS. But the smiles per mile.... priceless.

I have been leaning towards a new justaCooper. A buddy of mine drives a 07 MC to the tune of 38-40 mpg on his commute (80/20 as well.

Very do-able. I drive mostly city and can get way over 40 mpg when driving for economy. Haven't tried w/ the AC on though...I need to experiment with that since summer has avvirved here in Texas.

Yep, my justaCooper is ranging between 36 and 38 for mixed (country road/highway/city) real world (AC, assertive driving, etc). I wanted 32 to be happy , with 36+ I'm ecstatic!

I got 41 mpg on a road trip once, but I followed a semi rather closely all day to do it. I get about 26 mpg spirited city driving, that is based off of odometer readings and gas receipts.

The mileage is getting better for sure! Heck - I was impressed w/ my 1st tank (about 34). My 3rd fill-up was today and I'm around 38 mpg now. Very very happy! 2008 6-speed MCS. I think that 2nd coat of Prima Epic is helping (less drag) - thanks Richard (OctaneGuy).

I can't wait to get ours and enjoy the better mileage. Right now my truck is giving me an average 15 mpg and about $68 to fill up the tank every 5-6 days.

I think the high MPG is a direct result of 6th gear, which on the base Cooper/Clubman allows for very low RPMs for such a small engine. In fact, 4th, 5th, and 6th are all overdrive ratios! 2800 RPM at 70mph is pretty good for a 1.6L engine.

Absolutely! If I'm just cruising on the highway, or stuck behind people on normal 2-lane roads (like all the time in NJ) then I just stick it in 5th or 6th and save the gas. I never imagined that I'd get 500 miles to a tank - how awesome!

That is right, the rock got right in that tiny space between the wiper and the end of the glass. The crack spread up about 4 or 5 inches then turned towards the passenger side. It has been spreading ever since.

I did put some windsheild crack sealant on it the other day, I'll see if that stops the spread. It is nice to not cringe at or fear additional rock chips though.

How accurate is everyones OBC on gas mileage.
Mine was on the high side by 3.5 miles per gallon.

Mine is typically within 2 mpg (high side). By the end of a tank it usually reads 38 to 39 but refill calculations indicate 36 to 37 mpg. This is mixed driving. I'll take it.

Mine is about 1.5 higher than calculated but then the pump calculations are not perfect either since pumps varry and you never know you filled up the same amount you did last time. I think there was a study somewhere on OBC in different cars and it showed that hte computers are actually accurate despite the "real pump calculation" variance. Computer is calculating based on real time inputs from sensors in the tanks and wheels. It's analyzing based on that plus speed and throttle positoin.
I'd like to think that OBC is accurate

When I reset the OBC by holding the button down, then run my tank with the odometer, they match, but as more and more tanks of gas go down, it gets farther off, a maximum of 2mpg.
