MINI back in video games
MINI back in video games
It looks like Sony has decided to add the 06 MINI Cooper S to the upcoming overpriced demo release in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. While I am a fan of the series I will wait to drop 60 on the full release rather than a demo. However they have a huge list of cars and a number of tracks.
Many of the game sites have the info if you want to check it. The entire list can be seen at www.joystiq.com

The MINI game for the Wii looks extremely terrible... If I remember correctly, it's an aerial view of the cars/track, and the tracks are like an office table, dinner table, etc...not even remotely realistic.

If we're talking about "Mini Desktop Racing" for the Wii, then I can answer Yes, I've tried it. It really WAS terrible.
The cars are impossible to drive based on the control scheme. The graphics weren't bad and the track I taced on was in an office, using tables, books and office supplies to make the track. Reminds me of the old Micro Machines games, but poorly executed.
I've also got my sights set on trying "British Motor Racing" for the Wii; it's supposed to come out at the end of this month. Hopefully it will redeem a Cooper on the Wii. Here's a description of the game:

They may drive on the wrong side of the road in England, but that doesn't mean they can't make a mean racer! Drive some of the best cars to come out of Britain in British Motor Racing. Get behind the wheel of 13 classic cars including the MG, Austin Healey 3000, Austin Mini Cooper, Triumph Spitfire, and more. Each car is officially licensed and re-created with lifelike on-road performance. Choose from six courses that span Great Britain, including the traditional Westminster Run that dashes around the storied streets of London. Unlock three game modes including Time Trial and Grand Prix, compete to top track records, or race friends head-to-head.

Yeah, I can't wait for the actual GT5 to come out. Not the 40 dollar demo. I hadn't realized so many titles have been released int eh last year with the MINI. I have all of the latest systems in the house too.
That first MINI game listed for the Wii, was probably part of a string of like 5 bad racing games that were released in the same week that all had nothing but different titles and skins.
