I know mini of Pittsburgh had a big party, did anyone go to the dealer and check the Clubman live? I couldn't but am looking forward to it.

MINI of Towson had a sneak preview Friday night.
They supplied us with food and drink and had three Clubmans (Clubmen?) for us to inspect.
I'm not a family person but if I had kids, I may consider it. Still in love with my MCS so I'll hang on to it though.
The back, swing-open doors were cool.
I usually don't care for brown cars, but the Hot Chocolate Clubman with silver top does look nice.
The brown lounge leather and cream colorline look great together.

I ordered my MC on "Clubman Launch Day" the 16th. They had a few to look at, and we got some of the giveaways: chocolate fortune cookies & ZIG ZAG & ZUG antenna *****.
Not in the market for something like a Clubman, besides the rear doors bug me for visibility reasons. Keeping my 2000 Subie Outback in the family, so we already have a wagon we're happy with. Still, we looked... They had a LiB one with the blue interior accents that was really pretty. I think the black rear pillar color looks better than the silver, they had some of each sitting on the lot.

I went on Friday night to Mini of Nashville. They had about 6 Clubmans. Two were sold already. I love the Hot Chocolate. Mini of Nashville had a great open house with some nice give-a-ways.
I was at the Mini of Mountain Vew unveiling...
I got there a bit after the "unveiling"... My wife doesn't like driving the MDX all the time, and access to a new MCS would serve lots of my interests... She took one of the manual S Clubmans for a test and liked it. We have two kids, one 9 months and one three years, so the space would be nice. We didn't have the strollers to "test fit" but she'll do that sometime to see if they do fit in the back (we have big strollers...)
Ate two hotdogs and met a few nice people....
Matt
ps, got a Zig ball, but not a Zag or a Zug.

My dealer's official launch party isn't until the end of the month, but they had the Clubmenses there last week when I dropped my MCS off for service (to fix some OCD paint issues).
I hadn't thought much of it before, but after seeing it in person I definitely like it. As my gf said, 'It doesn't photograph well.'
In pictures it looks like a wagon, but in person it just looks like a MINI.
There's a bit of extra space in the back seat, but what I really liked was the much more practical boot. You could actually transport four people and some stuff. Plus the boot had a whole bunch of extra cargo tie downs, a false floor, and it looks like they come with the folding boot box standard. I was quite impressed.
In a short test drive it handled as well as my MCS, and even felt a little more stable while during high speed highway on/off ramp situations. The odd line in your rear view was a little disconcerting at first, but you stop noticing it after five minutes unless you decide it's going to bother you and focus on it.
Clubman, FTW!

Irvine Mini and Crevier Mini in Santa Ana had debuts this weekend. Both places were PACKED! Same thing with fortune cookies and ZIG ZAG ZUG ***** for the antennae. They had a chocolate martini bar (Virgin, so 13-year-old son was happy) and lots of fun hors d'oevres, including Jumbo Shrimp- a nod to the Big Mini, I'm sure.
A bunch of us LAME MINI folks motored over to MAG for the official viewing. Lots of fun kicking tires & taking test drives.

Interesting
that some dealers had "events" and others not so much so. But Mini of Mt View has put mark-ups on clubmans... $2500 for an S and $1500 for the base....
And not all are pre-sold. They say that they had some pre-ordered....
No mark up on any of the coupes, and $1k off any 07s in inventory...

Ordered a Clubman on Launch Day
Stopped by the Peabody Mass. dealership on Saturday with the intention to order a regular Mini, assumming that Clubman lead times would be out to 2009 and prices would be MSRP +$$$. Neither was the case. Paid MSRP and have a delivery date around the end of March or first week of April.
