Anyone with MINI(s) as your only ride?

The wife and I have a MINI plus a 4 door sedan. I'm really tempted to sell the sedan and get another MINI -- I'd really like to find a low mile 06. As much as she loves our MINI, the wife makes a convincing argument that we can't each have a small car barely large enough to haul some groceries. We only have space for two cars for now. We love our MINI, but common sense says we need to keep a full size car around. And no... neither of us like the clubman at all.

Is there anyone else out there with only MINIs?

If you need to transport more than two people, you might need a bigger car - but for two people, the MINI is ample and with it's rear seats folded down there's heaps of haulage space:

My MINI is my only car. Sometimes you need to get creative, but I haven't had any real issues yet

The MINI is perfect for daily driving. But on the occations that we need a little more space (extra people, extra stuff, etc) the other car is really useful. And I really like the other car, too. But if we had more space for another car, I'd have two MINIs in a heartbeat. I guess I'm secretly trying to convince myself that it would work having just two MINIs. But I probably know better. I'd also hate to miss the opportunity to get a low mile 06 before they're gone forever.

Over the pastOur MINI is not our only car but it is the "go to" car when we need to haul things around. I have the factory roof rack and a cargo box. If I can't fit everything inside it goes on the roof.

My wife has an Audi A4. When we purchased our first MCS we thought we would be making all of the long trips in the Audi, but that hasn't happened. Over the past five years all but one trip has been made in a MCS. Even going out to dinner, as a family of four, in the MINI is acceptable for short trips. We all are between 5'8" to 6'2" so don't let anyone tell you it can't be done.

We are post children so hauling more than just the two of us is a non-issue most of the time. The MINI is a great long distance motoring tool. The seats are very supportive and offer long distance comfort. Ours is an '06 MCS which comes standard with Sport Suspension Plus. We have no problem with long distances on the major highways, the ride is excellant. So far the longest single day drive was 7.5 hours and about 380 smiles. No stiff joints, no aches, no pains.

GBMINI is correct, it is amazing just what you can fit inside a MINI. I do some Auto-X racing and take a fair amount of things to each race. What can I fit inside?

4 wheels and tires
floor jack
10'x10' instant-up tent
2 folding chairs
10 gallon air tank - to adjust tire pressure
cooler for food and drinks
Helmet
various tools, cleaners, extras

Even with all of this I can still see out all of the mirrors.

As long as you do not have young children that need to be in car seats or teens taller than 5'6" the MINI is an amazing ride. If you occasionally have the need for a large vehicle you could always rent one for the day, or week, or whatever. This is what we have done. For the rest of the year you can have fun in your two MINIs.

Hope this helps.

3 MINIs here. If we need to haul something, we can rent a truck from U-haul for $19.95 or borrow a friends truck.

If you were to check out the PSMini you'd find that there is a GOOD HANDFUL of Mini ONLY families.

MINIs are great road trip cars. However, my butt got sore during the last half of a 12 hour day of motoring, I did about 1,000 miles that day.

I'd like to convince my wife she needs a Traveller (Clubman). She currently drives a Forester XT. It's a very nice car. She feels that she can't live without the cargo room of the Forester. I think she could. Anyway my plan is to load her Forester down with all of her art stuff & head to the MINI dealer to see if it all fits. I think it will.

One problem I'll have is how the Traveller will get beat up. Where my wife goes people park by feel & her cars get beat to carp. It bothers me a lot. Well the dings on the Forester aren't bothering me too much. But if she gets a Traveller it's going to kill me to see all that lot rash on that sweet car.

Our first MINI was my daily driver and my wife had her SUV....then I took a job change which required 4x4 but I was able to keep my MINI and we just got rid of my wifes SUV and so we have 2 MINI's now and love it. The few times that we might need a bigger vehicle we have my work vehicle or can just rent something for a couple of days but those times are so few and far between. Being a 2 MINI family feels better than ever

We traded my Wife's mini van in May of 07. That made us an all MINI family. Our kids are teenagers and the 4 of us have been on many trips in both our MINI's. Even a 350 mile trip to North Carolina with a weeks worth of luggage. The back seat area was tight but we had a blast. Don't miss the mini van at all, and lovin our all MINI stable.

I just have the MINI. I don't have a spouse, kids, or many friends, though. I do occasionally stuff coworkers in the back when we go out to lunch. When boyfriend and I take people/lots of stuff, we use one of his company cars (minivan or crossover). There's very few things I can't do with Lewis though, I don't feel the need for another car.

We have my MINI and my husband has a sedan too. Its us and 1 kiddo in a car seat. Majority of the time the MINI has been our hauler because the sedan is....foofy. My rear seats fold down completely and most things fit with no problem. On black Friday we bought a 42" HD plasma TV. The guys at the store laughed when we said we would be right back with the MINI to load it up. You should have seen their faces when we pulled up! But, it almost completely fit. Dont worry about needing to have a bigger vehicle, you just have to be a little more creative

I just have a Mini but it's just me - no husband, no kids, no pets. I haven't had a bit of trouble hauling stuff. In fact, I was very impressed with how much I can get in it with the seats down. I've also had no problem getting three people in the Mini...haven't tried 4 people, yet, though. I've found that, without having kids, my Mini alone does just fine and, if I'm with too many people for the Mini (which happens pretty rarely), someone else can drive. My boyfriend has an Audi RS4 so plenty of space there, if we need it.

We only have a Mini. We just took a trip (two of us) to FL from MA, took us about 29 hrs drive down with all luggage, pillows, and coolers and bags filled with food to cook for 7 days stuffed in with us. We had plenty of room for the whole trip. We even slept comfortably in there at a couple of stops! You could even use a roof or rear rack if needed.

We are a two MINI family - we used to have a Subaru Forrester in addition to the MINIs but last September we gave that to our daughter who lives out of town. I would like to trade one of the MINIs for a Clubman but will probably wait until '09. My wife has no problem doing the grocery shopping with one of the MINIs and we have made the occasional trip to Sam's club with one.

We hardly ever need to transport more than the two of us in a MINI.
