I was up in WV this weekend. I saw tons of MINIs... none of them waved back though.

We wave in Pittsburgh, but that's another thread subject entirely

I have noticed that drivers in this area just don't wave. I go closer to DC and I get waves, I go to my hometown Philly and I get waves even from passengers. In this state? The other driver doesn't even look at you.

I wave but, you're right, I've noticed very little waving in this state. There are about 5-6 Minis in Huntington and only one other Mini driver will wave back. I think the problem is that there are so few of us....and even those of us who have Minis are relatively new to the Mini world....so no one knows to wave. We lack the older, experienced Mini drivers to start the waving trend and get people to notice. We're left not so much with waving as practice and more just other drivers thinking that I personally have lost my mind. Give us time - West Virginians are pretty friendly, by nature. We'll catch on...

It's simpler than that - since there are so few Mini drivers, you're kind of surprised to see each other and before the shock can wear off and a wave develop, you're past each other...

Well, that, and your roads are so twisted and hilly that it's quite wise to keep both hands on the wheel!

Both very true points!

Although, they tell me that a real West Virginia driver can drive those twisted and hilly roads with their eyes closed.....I'm not planning to try that myself, though.

There's one woman I've been waving to every time I've seen her for the past 7 months and she has yet to wave back. I don't know if she'll ever "get it!" =p

It's okay - there is one Mini in town (actually with KY plates but she works in town) that waves at me. Actually, she waved at me first about a week after I got my Mini....I was so excited I almost forgot to wave back. Other than that, I wave like crazy at all the other Minis and they just look at me like I'm the crazy girl who tricked the DMV into giving her a license. Oh well. Some day peole will learn to just wave!

Question about Winnie...

MiniEsq,
I'm surprised you picked blue for Winnie, with British Racing Green being
close to the Herds colors <g>. (I originally planned a BRG/white stripe
color scheme... but I saw one up close a few months ago in need of a
wash. The thing was filthy, and showed dirt way to much for my taste.)

Side note, I'm a season ticket holder for Marshall football as well. Assuming
I get my mini this spring... maybe we could get a group of Mini owners together for a spring or fall football tailgate?

For years and years, I wanted British Racing Green but, once I saw Oxygen Blue, I just loved the color so much that I changed my mind. But Winnie is still a Herd fan at heart! We should definitely plan some sort of tailgate this spring or fall. Hopefully some Mini support will bring much needed luck to the Herd next year!!

I would come in for a MU game and a tailgate party if you scheduled far enough in advance (in my new clubman). Go Herd!!!!

I have to say that oxygen blue is a seriously nice color, I had a really hard time deciding between the two. =)

Maybe we should plan on next fall....I'll take a look at the schedule and see if we can get something together.

Thanks! Like I said, the moment I saw the color, I was in love! And I don't regret getting it...but I sometimes wish it was more of a "classic" Mini color - like pepper white, or red, or British racing green.

And we definitely need a smiley that waves! We wave at each other on the roads - we should be able to do it here too!

Potential color choice

I've been trying to decide on a color choice for awhile now , and think I may have come up with an idea.
I thought I'd go with HyperBlue , but have wanted to in some way represent Marshall University's colors.

I'm wondering how a Pepper White , with aftermarket British Racing Green
stripes on it would look. Only thing that would throw it off is I want the
panoramic roof... and the black in the middle may mess up the overall effect.

I'd be saving the $500 by avoiding the metallic paint... and could just put that into the stripes themselves.

Any thoughts?

(Oh , and I'd probably pick up the 3 Buffalo vinyl graphic for my left quarter
panel <g> to represent the herd even more...)

What would be wrong with MARCO <g>?

I think pepper white with aftermarket British racing green stripes would look great! I don't think the black in the middle would mess up the overall look - even Marshall's uniforms (well, some of the uniforms) have black mixed in with the green and white. A Marshall Mini! I'm excited just thinking about it!!! (and be fully prepared for me taking lots of pictures of it when it's all done!)

And OF COURSE it would be named Marco!!! No other name would do!

I think the green on the pepper white would be sweet... and that's speaking just from a visual perspective since I have no loyalty to Marshall. I'm a Philly girl living in WV for now.

Kinda scary, but when I was a senior in high school I had a 40 minute drive to school every morning. On the days I was allowed to use the car (a jacked up 1985 GMC Eagle ) I would remember getting in the car and I would remember pulling in the parking lot at school and NOTHING inbetween. My little brother always slept in the car and maybe I was sleep driving!! I never wrecked though and my neighbors used to tell my parents that I was an excellent driver. I guess those Ritchie county, twisty roads were just burned into my hands and heart. I can still whip thru them pretty good when I go to visit....but I know I'm awake now!!

A friend of mine grew up in Kingwood, WV - his girlfriend complains that he is the slowest driver on the Interstate....but turns into Speed Racer once he hits those twisty West Virginia roads. I guess we all just know those twisty roads by heart!
