Just a little mid-week humour while waiting for "Smudge" (somewhere in Mid-Atlantic).
So what were you driving to get to where you are now????

Currently 1996 Mazda Protege DX- stickshift, electric nothing, 170000 miles
plugs leads ac timing belt at 93000, since then nothing done except oil and tyres(Jersey City roads kill tyres).
0-60 in about a week, handles like it has been derailed, stops eventually.

Switching soon to "Smudge" read my sig

Far too many to list, but I was driving my wife's Lexus ES 300 when I bought my MINI, we got her a new Audi allroad with the twin turbo V-6.

The Lexus is a quiet comfortable competent handling car that I really enjoy, but I need to sell it as I have too many cars now.

I also have a 69 Jaguar XK-E that I rebuilt from the ground up and an 05 Tundra for work.

Here's a link to the resto I did on the Jag if anyone's interested to look.......

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/505677

The MINI is now my daily driver - let's motor!

I jumped from a MINIvan to a MINI Cooper.

Since it's a MCS cabrio, I guess I could have done that literally.

Hmm, not very many, really:

92 Pontiac Sunbird Convertible
96 Jeep Wrangler

The above two were when I was a teenager and I didn't own any of them...my dad traded the two in for a 94 Corvette (don't get me OR my mom started on that topic!)...so then I bought:

96 Chevy Cavalier (totalled)
02 Chevy Cavalier (sold to pay for...)
06 MINI Cooper!

Highest years per car

This is my tally over 28 years of driving:
  1. High School: '85 Toyota Tercel - what a beaut! Eventually owned by 4 of 5 siblings.
  2. College: '74 Cutlass Surpreme - 4 wheels, 3 different types of tires, all bald.
  3. Early Dating Years: '88 VW Cabriolet - dubbed the Monday car because it was built on Monday while the workers were hung over. A constant headache.
  4. Early Marriage: '86 Cutlass Ciera - nothing to say about this one!
  5. The Family Years: '94 Nissan Altima - a trooper, but no soul
  6. Mid-life Crisis: '07 MCS - the wait is over - I am looking for a big enought plot so I can be buried in this thing

1979 Dodge Omni (P.O.S) -highschool
1986 Nissan Sentra-my dad"it'll last forever" whatever, gone in 5 months
1978 Datsun 280Z
1979 Subaru Wagon (Sold the z car for a horse)
1978 Chevy 3/4 ton truck (horse)
1978 Fiat Spider (started an obsession)
1975 Fiat X19
1974 Fiat Spider
1975 MGB
1977 Fiat Spider
1983 Peugeot 505 (suprisingly nice car)
1980 Fiat Spider
1977 Datsun 280z 2+2
1978 Datsun 280Z
1979 Alfa Romeo Spider
1985 Audi 5000
1974 MGB
1977 Alfa Romeo Spider
1992 Geo Tracker
1977 Fiat Spider
1983 Porsche 944
1982 Porsche 944
1983 Saab 900 Turbo
1973 Mercedes 2door (model?)
1988 Saab 900 Turbo
1985 Jaguar XJS (got struck by lightening in the driveway)
1985 Pinifarina Azurra Spider
1979 BMW (another 2 door...model?)
1983 BMW (same)
1995 Geo Tracker
1991 Geo Tracker
1992 Geo Metro Convertible
1997 Geo Metro
2002 MINI S:thumbsup ::thumbsup :

OK, this is pathetic. I only own the MINI, Pininfarina, and two Trackers now (soon to be made into one super one)!
This is only my list too. My husbands is probably equally as long, and includes three planes he's rebuilt, as well as numerous British cars as well as trucks. This is what happens when your husband is a mechanic, and knows foreign cars like the back of his hands. You can buy the non-runners for much less, and with a little work have them on the road again. I imagine my son will have the same affliction, he got the bad car genes from both sides. He has a 1970 (fugly)Dodge Truck...BUT, hes fixing it up to sell and buy a CLASSIC Mini!!! Yeah! (Maybe I'll steal it when hes sleeping, and take it for a drive or two)!

I've owned several Mazda Rotary's starting with an R-100 back in 1970, untold numbers of Volkswagens from air-cooled to the current New Beetle, 15 different Porsche's, 7 different Jeeps including 2 Rubicons and probablly a few that got lost in the shuffle.

Now to answer the question we bought "Squirt" out right, paid cash. I had just traded a loaded 2006 3500 Dodge with a Cummins and everything else except the Nav system on a 37' Monaco Caymen XL motorhome and I didn't have a vehicle to drive, finally got my Lady to look at MINI's and the rest is history.

First car owned...'67 Camaro, bought used in 1976 from a school teacher. Absolute BASE model. In-line 6 with 3 on the tree & no radio.
From the mid '70's thru early '90's, in no particular order:
Chevy Chevette (Owned 2, as I wasn't bright enough to have learned my lesson after the first.)
Mercury Capri
VW Rabbit Diesel
Subaru DL
From Early '90's to present:
GMC Jimmy
Ford Ranger
Chevy S-10 (Still own. 98K on the clock & no significant problems)
AND
"Dorothy", '06 MC BRG/W (& #151 in the GWRR)
After reviewing the list above, is it any wonder I finally smile everytime I get behind the wheel?
Jeff

1985 Tracker? I thought 1989 or 1990 was the first year?

I loved my Tracker. I had it 13 years and it never broke down and never had any major problems. I really regret selling it.
