The Cayman is boring and antiseptic compared to the Elise. Go for the Elise!

And you're right -- Porsche marketing will never allow the Cayman to perform as well as the 911.

And at what the shirt costs, they can be smug about charging the same for a 2XL as a small.

Good night $33+ dollars for a single color print T-shirt. That's insane. MBE it's made out of cashmere infused cotton

I think I will buy a couple of those t-shirts just due to some knothead thinking they portray a bad attitude. LOL! Perfect for me.

Remember my, 'I am too self-absorbed to give a carp about how you feel" phase? Yeah, this should go a long way to keeping that alive. ROFL!

A thread on an internet forum dictating what you drive? I dunno, dude, but that just sounds really lame.

Perhaps be confident in your own opinions, and say f*** all to the infidels?

Drive what YOU want to drive.

Hehe,..that was not a typo. I prefer carp over crap for many reasons.

1) When you step on carp, you might slip, but your shoe will be ok.
2) When you swing carp, your hands can be cleaned easily..
3) You can control where carp lands when you throw it.
4) You can cook carp.
5) You can give carp as a gift.
6) If you toss carp, no one will accuse you of being a monkey.
7) Fresh carp smells much better.

Ta-Da

I've avoided this thread but I'm ready to weigh in now.

I think what the Mods need to do is create a new forum in the Mini's in General group that is simply "R53 vs R56 rants". Then we will have a proper place for overtly critical comments whether they are humorous or venomous. Then then the few members that get their jollys bashing the R56 can do so without spoiling the fun of other members, and R56 fans that want to defend the car to the end will have a place to fight it out, and it will also give the people who don't care for the R53 a place to come out of the closet although I doubt they even care to.

Then free speech can prevail even more so than now. And if somebody posts in the wrong place the mods can tell them where to take it.

Your post was definitely worth the wait. That is some brilliant, out-of-the-box thinking.

That is a noble idea but it is not going to work. Why? because as long as there are "zealots" in both sides of the debate, nothing constructive will ever come out of those discussion, except, drivel, internet drama and pure lulz. I think the problem goes all the way back to how people view their relationship with their cars. For some, cars a transportation devices, lifeless pieces of metal that take you from point A to point B. For others, their cars are closely knit and embedded into their egos and personalities, hence, when someone comes out of the woodwork and criticizes his/her car, they feel insulted and compelled to respond to what their perceive as unfair and biased accusations. It is funny, but some people are more willing to jump in and defend their cars than their girlfriends and spouses. Skip really explained the same concept fairly well in an earlier post in this thread. being a passionate fan about a particular car is fine and dandy as long as that passion does not become an unhealthy obsession with an inanimate metal object. This is the problem with the internets in general. Message boards and blogs are not the ultimate word or the irrefutable fact about a particular opinion or subject. Many people tend to put a lot of weight in the personal opinion of internet bloggers. To me bloggers provide a valuable contribution of information and opinions, but by far and large, message boards and enthusiast blogs are not to be taken as pure scientific fact. People need to be able to digest the information provided to them and be able to form their own opinions. Most individuals, in general, prefer to let others opine for them, because they have the mistaken belief that the internet is the ultimate source of truth and fact. Sorry it isn't. Everybody has a personal agenda and puts their own personal spin on what they say or post. Last but not least, "free speech" as stated in the US Constitution does not really exist in the internets. Further, anonimity and privacy in the internet is mostly an oxymoron of monumental proportions.

No, you're wrong. It will be ideal. People who want to poke fun and jibe can do so without restrain and nobody can possibly claim that they are offended.

And the posters who simply want to upset others, well, they will loose their audience I'm afraid. Sorry - they're screwed in this scenario.

It would not hurt to try. Why not?

Oh, and C4, you are so transparent its not even funny.

C4 is a poster who often stirs up trouble, and uses many different screen names.

Thanks Lynn. I went back and did a site search on "C4" and it appears that he was removed and banned from NAM for the reason you cited above. There is a post by a Mod in the "site Feedback" forum. Reading the site guidelines, banned users are permanently blocked for site access and their posts are removed from view forever.

C4 was not banned to my knowledge, rather he left on his own accord as posted here:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...82#post1435082

His profile is still posted here:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ber.php?u=1440

And none of his posts have been removed and you can easily find them here:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...archid=2824762

His account is active and he can return anytime he pleases. What he can't do however is assume a new identity and open a new account. That apparently is against the NAM rules.

So now C4 has an opportunity to come clean. But if he continues to lie about it then eventually I'd guess there will be cause to ban him. Either way is fine with me - its his choice.
