We finally took delivery!

Here are a couple of preliminary pics of our new addition!

Now, we just have to come up with a name. We've narrowed it down to the following:
  • Fawkes (the phoenix)
  • Sparx
  • Sparky
Any thoughts?

Two weeks into ownership, having broken a six-month drought by purchasing a shiny new convertible, I find myself wondering, just how sparkly can you get Sparkling Silver?

Can the mild or obsessive detailing methods described in these forums bring about a head-turning shine anywhere near the likes of a Chili Red or other dark colors?

Black, Anthracite, Gunmetal wheels

Hi everyone.

I'm about to join your club (if I may) . . . my SS/B Clubman is due in June. When it gets here, I know I'll be upgrading my wheels and tires, as I always do with my cars. I'm thinking , though, that SS/B would look very nice with black or grey wheels. Does anyone have them on Sparkling Silver? Do you like them, or regret them? 16s or 17s? Got any pics? (It's so hard to tell on the configurator because the SS color is so off.)

Also, these wheels I'm seeing on new Cabrios on this thread (like bradclark's and BunsenH's), sort of part black and part silver: I take it that these are a standard choice for the Cabrio? I don't see them on the configurator . . .

Thanks, guys, for your help! I can hardly wait for my new Mini.
Steven

Those wheels are part of the Sidewalk package. I don't think that they are available a la carte.

Don't forget Quesera's Sparkling Silver Sidewalk with Exclusive Nightspoke Wheels! I think bradclark, BunsenH, and I are identical triplets.

Congratulations on the SS Clubman!

you can look at mine in my gallery....it sort of depends what look you like....silver looks very bright and brings out the sparkle.....anthracite makes it look darker....not cute...but very good...i like both....depends on the season

I've got my eyes on the gunmetal Ultraleggera's (will stick with 16" and ditch the run flats, dunno what type of rubber yet tho) :

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand

They look hot on a SS/B. (click on "View on Vehicle" to see them on the MINI)

BTW, I contacted tire rack last week and they have updated the MINI colors, so now you can finally see all the different wheel choices on the sparkling silver (i noticed they have even included the black and white roofs....awesome! i love tire rack!).

Sorry, Quesera, didn't mean to exclude you. Ah..the Sidewalk Package; that's where those Nightspokes are hidden on the configurator. Very nice, and for $4K, you SHOULD have exclusive wheels.

Thanks Ambrosia! I love TireRack, too. But no wonder I couldn't find the SS/B on their "see it on your car" thing: it's only there if you choose the "CooperS Hardtop" as your car.

If anyone else has black or grey wheels that you like (or hate), I'd be interested in your feelings. And, lord help me, I'm even considering bronze wheels. Someone save me

Steven

I'm trying to find a nice lightweight set of wheels for my SS/B as well. I was trying to find some 18" forged in black, but I'm not really wanting to spend a fortune. One thing I'm somewhat concerned about is the added cost because of the TPMS. Oh, what to do, what to do? I'm kinda leaning towards Konigs right now (although they don't seem to be forged) or maybe something by Sport Max. Let us know what you do, LinkedUp Steven. Maybe I'll go with what you do.

Dark wheels

Here is our SS/B (brand new!) with Enkei WDM wheels.

We got these from the Tire Rack and they were really pretty inexpensive. They are also easy to clean.

And, we love them!

We took delivery in Arlington, but we headed home that same day. We'll likely pass through sometime this summer. I still say we need a statewide Texas MINI event sometime soon! MINI Takes the Lone Star State!

Enjoy the wait, MerBear. The anticipation is sweet!

We're in Oak Cliff and still run through Arlington occasionally. There are a few other SS that I've seen at the MetroplexMINI meetings. You can get the info at www.metroplexmini.org.

Welcome!

For wheels look at Rota RB wheels. I saw silver ones in Vegas at AMVIV last weekend (not on a car so no pix sorry). They come in silver, black, gunmetal, and white I think (16 and 17"). I did not see any on a Mini there, so they must be new in that size (every other wheel was represented I can assure you).

Yes! VintageMac. I'm liking the black wheels alot! I think, though, that the silver lip is what really makes them ... really sets them off and helps them to not get lost in the wheel wells. Thanks for posting the pics.

So, Will, when you and I get our black wheels, we gotta look for that silver lip. My car's not due until June, so I have a little time to think about it.

Yeah, I have black Sports Max rims with a silver lip on the CR/B now, and I definitely think that is the way to go. All black is too black; the silver lip is what really makes it work.

and I REALLY need to get some real photos of the cars in my signature, since neither one looks that close to what I was able to get off the configurator (especially with the CR/B being an R53!)

Rims

I agree - it is the polished rim that makes these look so good. All black tires and wheels just looks . . . too dark (IMHO).

I am not a big fan of the "in your face" spoke look (I know, I know - most Minis have these), so the black wheels with polished rims are just the ticket.

Boo hoo hoo!!! I thought I'd found the wheels I wanted, but alas, no silver lip. But I do like them....

Here they are: http://www.rotawheels.com/torque.php

Maybe if I go with whitewall tires....

Have you seen these? They don't come in 16s though, and I'm not sure yet if I want 17s. Nice, nevertheless.
