Sparkling Silver Owners Club
I picked the SS from the configurator!
My (or, actually, soon to be mine) newly-ordered '08 is in the paint shop today being turned into a SS MCS according to 866-ASK-MINI, so please add me as well! Hopefully I'll be official by early March, the seas permitting...

My yet unnamed "Sparkler" convertible is on the production line as we speak. I also referred to the color as 'champaign' when describing it to others.
Can't wait to share a photo with my fellow club members.

Ambrosia and I would like to join!
'Champagne' is also how I described the color when asking people their opinions before purchasing. I was reminded that a couple great benefits to the color is that it wouldn't look as dirty as a darker color as fast and is a little less common a color for a Mini.
The color wasn't my first choice (the configurator doesn't do it justice at all). When I finally decided I wanted a MCS I went to the 3 area dealerships trying to find a DS or LB equipped just the way I wanted it...nothing more and nothing less but wasn't having much luck. I was also running out of time since my last car was totaled and the insurance was only giving me a rental for a limited time. Little Ambrosia was just sitting there at MoT waiting for me to adopt her but I just wasn't sure! But when we walked inside the showroom one of her cousin's was parked inside looking proud and pretty..and with the sport stripes. That is really what made the difference to me...and I'm happy with my choice

I've gotten a lot of compliments on the color since owning the car. i definitely do not regret it at all!
funny thing is when I took it to dealership for some warranty service, the service manager did not know what color to call it. My advisor said "sparkling silver" and he said "uhm, huh? It's not silver!?"

Colour choices...
My wonderful wife wanted to be sure I didn't make any mistakes on colour. She wasn't sure just what "sparkling silver" was; the dealership had a couple of (incoming) cars in that colour, so she was able to see it, and thought it was quite nice, and agreed that "champagne" might be a more apt description.
Thereafter ensued an animated discussion on contrasting roof and mirror colours.
At one point she asked, "Why can't you just get the car all the same colour?"
To which I replied, "You want a car all the same color, get a ****ing camry!"
I thought the MA was going to fall out of his chair. His boss, the sales manager, merely nodded and smiled.
My wonderful wife has agreed that sparkling silver with black is acceptable; I don't have to sleep with the dogs (at least on account of car colours
).
Cheers--

Any Frenchman will tell you that the only place that produces champagne is Champagne, France. That stuff we produce in California is "sparkling wine." Hence, the color name Sparkling Silver.
