Beeman and Calico-

All great looking cars. Love the color choice, and I especially like the black sport stripes, Calico!

Kewlby-

As the song goes, "the waiting is the hardest part." Do you know when they are going to start?

Love that Sparkling Silver!

The long agonizing wait is over! My MINI (I named him Ralph) finally arrived on Aug 4th 2008 after just ordering him on July3rd! He came in on the FIGARO that departed South Hampton on Jul 18th. He is so handsome with that Sparkling Silver smile and that Hot Chocolate interior! Now I just have to sit down with Ralph and find out all of his best features in that 220 page owners manual. Yeeks!

I don't feel so lonely now knowing you also have ordered a Sparkling Silver MINI with the Hot Chocolate Lounge Leather interior...I thought I might have made a mistake, but after Ralph's arrival...I know I did the right thing.

I hope you too enjoy your new MINI as much as I will.

Happy Mini Motoring!

Count me in as a new SS owner................fun to listen to people talking about the color arguing about it being gold or green and never does silver cross their lips!

Never thought of it being gold. More of a "sage" kinda thing.

Hey, that'd make a good name, wunnit?

Another from NJ, joining the club!!

Bought ours in TX last month and drove her home to NJ. She's unique with the roof in sparkling silver as well. Looks really good against the dark sunroof. Had to take off the tints on the doors to pass NJ inspection, but she's still a looker!

Have any of you painted your calipers? I'm trying to figure out if red would look better than black. Thanks and post a pic if you did please!

Ordered my SS/B MCS and supposed to go into production in 2-3 weeks. I am struggling with my choices for the interior.

I ordered it with all the standard: leatherette, silver check, no anthracite headliner, no chrome.

Now I'm thinking I want anthracite (didnt know what it was before), chrome, and brushed alloy. I'm thinking these three options would make it look a lot higher quality.

I also like the idea of the white color line - to add that special something that you dont get in any other cars. Plus i am thinking about doing some suttle checks down the road (sun roof? rearview mirror?)

What does everyone think about that combo? SS/B, leatherette, Anth, Chrome, Brushed Alloy, White color line...

Any comments on:
Leatherette vs Cloth?
White color line? Does it get dirty?

Thanks!
And how about SS standing for sweet sugar, or seared sugar. Definitely more accurate than sparkling...

My goodness, I remember when Gemgirlpa took possession of her Nugget, I had just ordered mine. So exciting. My baby is on the Elektra right now just cruising out of the English Channel. I thought I'd never see the day--the wait has been so long! If I were to do it all over again, I'd definitely still stay with SS/B. Seared Sugar... Subtle Sage...Sparkling Sugar... it's all purty

Edje, I think you would really like the anthracite headliner. It gives it a nice look of continuity. If you don't choose it, you will have dark below the window lines and then light gray above. Look at pics. We got the hot chocolate leather, but the black will also look great. We have the English oak, cream colorline, there is some piano black there too. I thought maybe it would be "busy" but it all comes together very nice and does give the car a luxurious look for not much money.

Nice! Thanks. I think I'm going to change my order today. The anthracite seems like a must and I especially love the white color line.

I didn't paint my calipers, but I did get a rear sway bar installed. You can just barely see it, but it is red and provides a nice contrast and splash of color. I think I would paint the calipers red if it were me.

I'd stay away from the checked silver; it looks cheesy (and since you aren't from Wisconsin....). I went piano black on the new one (which I already had in the '05) and it looks sharp.

Everyone keeps talking about how anthracite is a "must." I didn't get it and I like how it flows; the lighter-colored liner blends better with the outside light coming in through the windows during the day, and at night you can't really see it anyway. To me, it makes it seem roomier, where if it were black, it would seem almost cramped to me.

Also, if you are adding the black liner, then it seems odd to me to add the white color line. Inside my car, basically everything below the beltline is dark and everything above is light. It seems you'll have light and dark and black and white all over the place; I think mine looks "classy" the way it is. Seems like your way might be a little "busy" but if it is what you like, then by all means go for it!

Leatherette is definitely the way to go; there are entire threads on this discussion/choice, and the cloth gets very few comments of support. The leatherette is the overwhelming favorite.

I think SS/B is the best combo, so good job there! I imagine you got the exterior set up nicely (rear fogs, xenons); once you get it, some window tint and flat black aftermarket wheels will really make it look complete. (That reminds me, I REALLY need to change my signature picture!)

Not trying to nitpick or anything, but snowcap millie, is your car really going to be an '09? I just got my '07 at the end of last year and they hadn't even switched over to the '08s yet. I hadn't heard that they were on the '09s already (but I guess I haven't really been paying THAT close attention to it). Just wondering is all; like I said, I'm not trying to cause any trouble!

I waited a loooong time for allotment. Now I'm doing the tracking thing. I think The Elektra just made it out of the English Channel, but I'll happily check to see exactly where she is.

I'll take lot's of photos as soon as I get her!

no trouble at all, minicooperwill,

yep! it's an '09! Went through it with my MA. Some of the build specs had changed (along with the upward movement of the price.) The spec sheet also says '09. At first I wasn't going to get DSC, but now it's included in the 09, the comfort iPod setup with the arm rest is now an upgrade inside the Comfort Package. I also think these are the first 09 builds coming out of the Factory AFTER their Holiday, so maybe the kids over there even more attentive to their craft after a little break.

You bet they are on '09s. But i wish i was getting an 08. They are probably the same car, just the price tag went up...Base price and options/packages.

Thanks for all your help, Im going to take it into consideration.

BTW I got the xenons, but whats the reason for the rear fogs?

yeah, it's the same car. Seems more like the options were rejiggered to compensate for the rise in price—I don't mind too much. If it really bothered me I wouldn't have gotten the car. Then I'd just be a dummy.

The reasons for the rear fogs are basically to fill in what would otherwise be blank spots. Without rear fogs, you have an empty toggle panel spot (which a lot of people just hate) and on the rear of the car, you get filler panels where the lights would be. I believe its only an extra $100, and there are threads on here where people talk about not getting them being their #1 regret. Adding them later is much more expensive supposedly. They do make the back of the car look more complete. Oh, and I suppose they come in handy when it is foggy out too!

I know a lot of people (myself included) go for the white turn signals too. The bulb itself is yellow, but when it is not lit, the turn signal looks white (and nicer than sitting there looking yellow).

I got the rear fogs for that very reason. As for the real use, I think it's just a bonus. Like you say, they might just come in handy in a foggy situation!
