Any twin charged cars at the track?

I'm very intrigued by the idea of twin charging my car as I do quite a few driving schools and would like some extra power. Is anyone out there using this for the track? Will it survive track use? I'm curious to hear if anyone has experience with this as the current discussion is very limited.

Search is only your friend if you search in the right forum. This thread was helpful, but not where I expected it to be.

Very true...i usually just use a broad search as some threads tend to be hiding where you least expect it. The racing forum didnt exist back when that thread was started.

So I assume from the lack of any serious discussion of the subject that it would be a bad idea to throw one on my car and hope its reliable? I can't get a good feel for whether this is a proven technique or just something for the street racers. The manufacturers (such as Alta) don't offer up much literature or test results.

Yah....there is no published PROOF that they would be reliable on the track. That isn't to say that they aren't reliable on the track....it just means you are almost acting as your own test rat.

My 'guess' is that it 'could' work, but here is no way you are going to bolt on a turbo and go racing. You'd have better built a strong motor first. Also, to do this so it works in racing one must spend another $7-$10K on aftermarket stand alone ECU.
To really do a TC right for racing and actually have it last for even half a season, figure it's a good $20K+ motor job.

When I started this thread, I was hoping you would respond that you had put one on your car and had video proof of the results. Imagine what the Mini would be capable of on the track if this technology worked.

Do you really think it would take $20k and all that engine work? $7-10k for an ECU? I know I'm not comparing apples to apples, but I was able to bolt a supercharger on my NSX and safely add 75hp to the rear wheels. This after reading about countless others that had done the same thing and logged many miles at the track.

I don't know much about the internals of the Mini's motor, but would think it has tolerances to handle more boost. Its probably best to wait a few years and let the bugs be worked out.

Adding 75 hp to a Mini is no problem, but that can and is already being done without a TC with some ease. But now we seem to be talking about adding double that with a TC.
Anyone can through on a TC and hit the track, but unless the big bucks are spent they will either be quite slow or short lived, IMHO.
