I sort of started this post on a thread related to organizing a track day, but I've now gotten some specific info, and have a specific request...

The Sports Car Driving Association organizes and operates "drive your own car track days" (aka driving schools) at Lime Rock Park, Watkins Glen, and NH International Speedway. Check their site for a description of what constitutes one of their events. I've been in touch with the director of SCDA and asked him if his organization would consider DISCOUNTS on their normal daily rate if a group of MINI drivers wanted to register for a particular date. In so many words, the answer is YES.

What I need in order to move this forward is some specific messages from MCO members who would be interested in pursuing this. If we can get together a group of about 5 individuals, then we can find out what SCDA can do for us. I'd suggest that you check the schedule on SCDA's site (Iink above) and then PM me with dates/locations that would work for you. We do need to come to consensus as to dates that would work for 5 or more if we want the discount (ie., simply knowing that you're interested doesn't help...I need to know some specifics). Also, the dates are apparently starting to fill up (although they're also far from being totally filled)...so we need to make some movement on this within the next couple of weeks.

I do think that this would be loads of fun if we had 5 or more MINIs at one of these events. And unlike Autocross, this is not a competitive event or an activity that requires prior experience. You don't need to make any modifications to your car. All it takes is an interest in driving your MINI at your/its limits.

What do you say?

I am definitely up for this. I have had my MCS at Road Atlanta a couple of times now with a Porsche club and I am definitely hooked. Most of these dates really arent too good for me though, but I could definitely do the 12 and 13th of August at NHIS, although I would like to find some days I can do a road course. I am not sure how to organize one of these, but I woul like to check with Road Atlanta to find a day for just MINIs... jsun you got any idea how to approach this?

Count me in for 2004. I have heard of the track days at those 3 places and read somewhere on this board that a guy got 2 days worth of runs (1 hour each) for his birthday.

After I get the car, break it in, and put some miles on it, I will definitely be in for next year. Please keep in touch.

OK jlm, but please be specific as to "what" you'd be up for as far as dates or locations. Check their website (link in my first post on the thread) and then let me know one or more dates that would would for you.

We need specifics if we're to make a discount work.

Thanks!

I'm interested in the Lime Rock days later in the spring. I may be wrong but NHIS is still basically a NASCAR set-up and, as the only non-NASCAR fan in New Hampshire, I need to maintain my dubious reputation.

No, actually, there's a road course there too. Not as big as Watkins Glen, and incorporates a good part of the oval track...but it's there. Very nice pavement at NHIS and it's much more convenient for Boston and further-north area folks.

OK folks, but as I've noted before, you NEED TO GO TO THE SCDA WEBSITE AND TELL ME WHAT DATES YOU'RE INTERESTED IN!! (sorry for the shouting, but for some reason no one seems to be paying attention to the part about checking the dates OR PM'ing me with interest). Read the top of this thread.

As soon as we get some dates from you interested motorers, we can set something up.
