Thanks for the tip - I wonder how that happened. Oh well - adame - click on F1 Events and then the Aussie GP and it'll let you pick for the 2005 event.

WOW! Schumi not even attempting a qualifying lap in the second session! Everyone thought that the Jaguar come RedBull would be a back marker. Who knew DC had it in him?! A good showing for BMW/Williams Man it looked strange to see the crews in the pits not even pick up the air guns!

I think that BMW ought to name the engine MINI for the second team. Wouldn't you like to have a 800 horsepower V10 in the next generation MCS?

I strongly suggest that people make final picks as qualifying warps up just before the race. I made changes up to the last car in Qualifying. Can't wait for the next round!

Good luck all!

How long does it usually take the Pick Six site to tally points?

The little Commish usually has the points posted by noon on Monday.

Seemed almost ailen to see the cars stop and not have 3 men attack each corner!

That explains 2 people choosing Fisi to win! In every other F1 game I've played, picks had to be in prior to the start of qualifying (which makes more sense to me). I guess I'll revise my tactics for this contest.

Gonna be tough when qualifying ends at 4 in the morning when they race in Europe, though!

Yes the new qualification makes things a little more difficult. With the grid set on Saturday [last season] it was a little easier. Now what you have to do is watch the Sunday session and get your picks in during the half hour between the final Qualification session and the start of the race.

I find this much better than the other fantasy games where you pick a chassis, engine, drivers, tires etc. Makes the race much more exciting as well. Congrats to Letsmotor and Kurvehugger tied at the top with 23 points.

I am happy to see everyone get some points. I don't know why CooperSdriver is ranked at 54 when there are only 10 in the league. Will have to talk to the little Commish. I think now that everyone understands the strategy of the game...

Round 2 this weekend!

Maylasia (sp?) One of the more interesting track designs. Up there with China. Watch first round qualifyingand register your picks Then watch second round qualifying and make final adjustments. I hope everyone does well. Too bad I have to be out of town this weekend. Maybe I can get into Kinko's and get some pix on Saturday.

Good Luck All!

My local paper had the final qualifying/race schedule wrong, so I checked Speed Channel's website.

Final qualifying is 12:30am EST Sunday (9:30pm Pacific on Saturday night)

Pre-race coverage is at 1:30am EST Sunday (10:30pm Pacific on Saturday night). Race starts 30 minutes later.

Ladies and gentlemen, set your VCRs!

Your local paper is probably spot on...be careful with SPEED channel's time schedule...the second qualifying session in Australia was tape delay and was immediately followed by pre-race and then the race live.

According to the actual race schedule there is a four-hour time period from the start of second qualifying to the start of the race. SPEED channel edits the time for the audience's viewing pleasure.

I think the Speed site is correct then - it says final qualifying is "same day delay" and the race is live. Which explains how Speed can run them back-to-back.

Good to know that final qualifying is earlier, though. We can check the results online and get Pick Six drivers up without having to wait until the middle of the night to see qualifying on TV.

Real time: second qualifying starts at 10 pm EST on Saturday...race starts at 2 am EST on Sunday.

Just wait til the European season starts and second qualifying is at 4 am EDT.

Button engine change?

Anyone wondering about where to place Button in KL should defenitely read this article from speedtv.com.

Honda Ponders Button Engine Change

Written by: Adam Cooper

"Jenson Button could face an engine change before the start of the Malaysian GP, having overcome a problem in the first practice session this morning to qualify ninth in the afternoon.

Button’s qualifying performance was compromised in the first session when he pulled into the pits with smoke coming from the back of the car. The team removed the gearbox and examined the engine, but reported that the problem was caused by an oil leak rather than anything more serious.

Nevertheless Jenson missed the second of the two practice sessions, which meant that he was not able to try the car in qualifying trim with low fuel and new tires.

‘It’s quite difficult going into qualifying with new tires and also running low fuel for the first time,’ said Jenson. ‘We had a problem this morning with the engine, and I wasn’t able to do second practice, so it was hard know where the braking points were. I lost a bit of time in the last sector, when I got a bit of oversteer through the high-speed left. I think we could have been very quick, so it’s disappointing.’

Although he tackled qualifying with his original engine – which was new for Friday morning – Honda engineers will examine it and check their data before deciding whether it is capable of lasting a race distance.

‘They’re still looking at it at the moment,’ he told SpeedTV.com. ‘It held on for qualifying, but it’s only one lap. We’ll have to see what happens. There’s still a chance we’ll change.’

If he does change he will have no choice but to start at the back of the grid, but he will have the option to run long with a heavy fuel load

Looks like some of us didn't submit picks in time. Oh well, they're off! No incidents at the first turn. I expect a bit of attrition due to the two-race engine rule...we'll see.

Wow did I go to the back of the pack!

I was out of town also and boy did I get left behind in the points! Congrats to Lets Motor as he is #1 in the NAM F1 Challenge, and 11th position over all! mgcman is has the bigest jump this time, up 34 places!

Anyone have a suggestion for a web page that has second round qualifying results? There was 4 hours between the second round of qualifying and the start of the race. Speed seems to delay showing 2nd round untill just before the race. More timely information would be helpful for everyone!

I find this to be helpful.

http://f1.racing-live.com/en/index.html

click on gp results on the title bar and then on qualifying 1 or 2.

p.s. Yeh, I had a good race, moved up substantially in the overall standing, just gotta keep at it.

I agree with MGCMAN's website of choice. Been using that website for years. Now however you have to pay to get the live updates which is not worth it for me. The pop up window is updated after each session of each grand prix weekend. Very nice.

But it was nice to watch a race and get various info like when the driver pitted, his time in the pits, his lap times, etc. live during the race.

I'm just lucky that Coulthard saved my butt this week. And I don't really like Coulthard that much but a great drive nonetheless.

www.formula1.com has a really cool live timing window.

www.crash.net has lots of good info. Not sure if they have any live timing, but they have results up pretty quick. Really cool if you use Firefox cuz you can subscribe to the RSS Feeds and read the updates as Live Bookmarks.

Round 3

Will Schumi return to winning ways? Can BAR be the force it was in 2004, Is Ralphie boy a fluke at Toyota?

Inquiring minds want to know!

I would suppose that everyone will get the first two positions correct or with in 1 place... But what about position 4, 5, and 6???
