NAM F1 PickSix Challenge 2008
Greetings NAM F1 fans! I know it's a little late to start something like this given that there are less than 7 days until the start of Fri practice for the Australian GP, but better late than never.....right? Well, here's hoping at least a few of you decide to join in.
Feel free to register and play along at as many F1 game sites as you like (that's what I'm doing), but consider making PickSix one of them so you can be a part of the "NAM F1 Challenge" league. We've had a NAM team there for three years so far, but if you haven't played and you're not familiar you're not far behind because it has to be the simplest "fantasy league" ever.
Check it out here and post in this thread if you want to play along, then all you have to do is start picking. At least, I think it's that simple this year. I was registered before the Little Commish revamped his site so I'm not sure how you get yourself recognized as part the NAM group this year. Used to be you had to register first and then email the Commish to tell him which league you wanted to be in. If you register and aren't given an opportunity to select a league, send an email to support@picksix.com - tell them you just registered, include your name and display name for reference, and tell them you want to be included in the "NAM F1 Challenge" league.
Once you're on the list, the process is very simple. Go to the PickSix site, navigate to your quick picks page for the upcoming race, pick the drivers you think will finish in the top six positions for that race, and submit your picks. It's that easy! You can check out the scoring rules at PickSix - there are points for more than just matching the drivers' finishing positions so the event scores are often surprising!
If you're in on the challenge, let me know (post here), and I'll add you to the list.
The NAM F1 Challenge team list:
adame
CutnThrust
garyp
geowit
kurvhugr
Letsmotor

Sabre
ScottinBend
TravisW (BSUCardinalfan)
TresRay

I know what you mean. The way the site works this year, I think you won't see yourself on the list until you submit some picks. I suspected such so I made some preliminary place-holder picks just to see what would happen and that's the first time my name (and picks) appeared on the list. I could sign in so I knew I was registered, but there was no way I could tell whether they still had me on the NAM list. Give it a try.

Send an email to support@picksix.com with your particulars so they can link your request to your registration, and ask them to add you to the NAM F1 Challenge list.

Word of advice to anyone new or thinking of joining. You can make picks right up until the race start time.....or close to it anyway (there's an occasional glitch in the site's timing, etc). In previous years I've always waited until well after qualification -- sometimes until minutes before the lights went out -- to make my picks, but every once in a while something came up that kept me from the computer until it was too late. Trust me, just like a driver who has a bunch of race points stripped from him, it's really hard to catch up after that happens. So, you might want to make some preliminary picks prior to each race weekend, just in case.....you can change your picks as often as you like.

OK, I'm not usually big on these kinds of things but I'm signed up with the same user name as NAM, geowit. I'll eithr be glued to the tv tonight or maybe the ReplayTV tomorrow. I look forward to the season and maybe this will make me stay more involved. Thanks for setting this up.

Since you have another email in, I'll hold fire for now. He'll straighten it out but don't be too put out if it doesn't happen until after the race. He told me he meant to make league choice selectable on the site when he rebuilt it this year but just forgot to do so. He intends to fix that as well but for now is stuck making the change himself, manually. Though it's probably not necessary, you could also go back in and add "NAM F1 Challenge" or "please switch me to NAM F1 Challenge" in your picks comment block, just for good measure - your call.
