WAY TO GO SEAVETT!

That was a really good race. I loved watching the Q & A after the race, Vettel just couldn't get the words out fast enough. It was interesting to note that all three on the podium had their first wins this year.

At the trophy presentation, Vettel was a little late with the champers compared to the other two. A whole new world for him.

I'll bet Stoddart is proud too.

Anyone else think Heikki was looking a little sour?

I loved it when S. V. Went into the room to get weighed and he looked like a lost little boy. "What do I do now? Where do I go?"

Kovy did look at least concerned. There's no reason that the McLaren shouldn't have been able to overtake Sebastoan except that all the stars, planets, moon and Sun were aligned in STR's favor. He hadn't had a chnce for the post-mortem yet.

I've been out of town for the past two weeks and only caught up with the races this past weekend.

Spa was baloney, isn't it becoming clear that no matter what the silver cars do, the red cars will triumph in the end ? The record books will never reflect the fantastic drive that LH put in to win the race fair and square. Kimi could have easily taken the turn tighter and both cars would have remained on track. As pointed out, the red cars were taking advantage of the run off areas too. Had the cars been reversed no penalty would have been handed out - actually, perhaps Lewis would have gotten a penalty for pushing Kimi to cut the chicane.......sad sad sad what a let down.........

There's just too much money to lose if you punish the red team as indicated by all those red clad money paying fans in the stands. Why would Bernie cut his own wrist ?

Italy - Was a great race, SV deserved that win, Mclaren made some really bad choices but so did Ferarri. "Rain" the great equalizer !

As stated before "If Mclaren and Lewis take the championship it certainly will be well earned and there will be no doubt they deserved it"

I must wholeheartedly concur. A "spot on" assessment!

Regarding Spa, first, I'm as anti-Ferrari as you will find. However, in the case of the chicane, when it happened, my first reaction was 'that's going to be controversial'. Mainly because that wasn't a place a guy could normally pass. The worst part is that if Hamilton had just waited until the run up the hill, he would have made the pass anyway.

As for Monza, that was terrific to watch, wasn't it? These last two races are why I love F1. I'm afraid this next one coming up will look pretty, but be pretty boring on-track.

Spa was, was Spa. And it was handled EXACTLY according to the rulebook.

Mr. Impatient screwed the pooch, plain and simple, and got spanked.

I'm NOT a Ferrari fan, and never have been in my whole F1 life, which goes back to 1965. A lot of people really have no idea how many times Ferrari has been handed their head on a platter over rules issues or driver screw ups. There WAS F1 before God Emperor Michael 1st. And if you look, Schu was penalized more than a couple times for his dirty driving.

So stop trying to make excuses for LuHam's poor track decisions.

The thing is that if it was any other driver or team, there would have never been any issue.

The cutting of the chicane was due to Kimi pushing Lewis out, if he hit the curb he would have collided with the red rod. Instead, he chose the safe route, backed off to get behind then made the pass. Yes, it is possible that he could make the pass later but the opportunity presented itself and he took it. The fact that Kimi himself used the run off areas to his own advantage during the race (not to mention trying to push his own teamate off the track) goes un-noticed and un-punished is absurd.

How many penalties dealt to Ferrari ? (Red car runs into red/white car)

How many (legit) penalties to Mclaren ? (Silver car hits red car)

The whole thing is getting me depressed. Finally the best year of equal cars and drivers and the controlling body is going to ruin it out of favortism for one team based on ticket sales.........sad sad sad

Wish the old days were still around when the cars and drivers raced knuckle to knuckle and sponsership was unseen.

Go Lewis ! KBO baby ! KBO !

You may not be a Ferrari fan but its very obvious you do not like LH, thus no matter what he does you will find fault in the performance. Racing is racing and as with the greats like Schu, Senna and so on, they all did what it took to win.

Lewis takes the chance and shoots for the lead, that is what makes his driving exciting, sure beats watching one stinking car lead by a minute....how dull.....recall the last championship years for Schu, I myself usually turned off the "one horse race"

Many do not believe that is the case. It certainly is not fact. The FIA even made a clarification of the rules on it for Monza, so it was not so cut and dry to begin with. I am not a Lewis/MacLaren fan nor am I a Ferrari fan, but I do not believe the rulebook has been applied/interpreted consistently.

Did anyone tape Monza--race and/or qualifying? Anything! Ike had us busy, and had the audacity to strip us of power for 6 days.

Of course I'll pay for the tape and shipping.

Came across this comment from Nobert Haug:

"We see no reason to be nervous," the burly German claimed, "In his 31 grands prix so far, Lewis has scored 187 points, six on average per race. During this period, no other F1 driver has collected more points. In 26 of those 31 grands prix, Lewis finished in the points, 20 of those occasions finishing on the podium. In the previous six races, he alone has scored as many points as both drivers of our toughest competitor."

That my fellow MINI friends and F1 fans is a beautiful example of teamwork !

You WOULD have to tell me that, wouldn't you?

Anyone else?

RaceTripper--okay, for you and all the other electronic newbies, I'll accept a DVD, too. (Sheesh! Where were you when everyone had 8-tracks and CB radios? Boy, those were the good ol' days! Not.)

Hah ha...I remember 8-Track and all that stuff. I still prefer analog LPs to CDs. Yeah, I threw out my VCR ages ago. I stopped using it and on the occasion I did, I hated the quality, so to the recycle center it went. Never have bought a DVD recorder. No need for one. Hope you get to watch the race. Thanks, Race--I'll check them out.

Just started an account--I notice in the "country" listing, the first option is Afghanistan. Wonder how many GIs are using this site?

(I remember the good 'ol days in another way--we lived in St. Louis in the early 70's. Great place to car-play!)

And I lived in Bellaire, TX (in the early-mid 60s).

FIA rejects Spa appeal as inadmissable.

Obviously there are varying opinions about whether the penalty was appropriate or not but I think for the FIA to downright not address it is spineless and another stab in the back of the fans and the sport itself.

Why address something that wasn't allowed to be appealed to begin with?

Because the rules change with Ferrari's standing in the championship.

Remember, FIA means "Ferrari In front, Always"

I guess part of McLaren's arguement was that it was a time penalty and not a drive-thru since the punishment was delivered in seconds.

What a crock. I guess, like Boxer in Animal Farm, Lewis's motto is "I will work harder."

I'd really like him to win the championship. Then again, I'd really like Massa to win, but for different reasons. Guess I'll have to pick. Lewis.

See, us old farts that have been following F1 from long before Schumacher was born, remember Ferrari getting slapped a LOT for various and sundry infractions.

Because it was within the last five laps of the race, the 25 second penalty was the ONLY penalty allowed. It's in the rules.

I remember when Michael was the man to watch, before he went to Ferrari. Guess that makes me a young old fart. Geez, Michael was born in '69. Are you, what, 70? 80?

It's funny you say that about the time penalty, when a steward was quoted as saying they had a choice of time or 10 places on the next grid. Yes, I saw the copy that was posted--just interesting that the steward didn't even know the rules. Wonder if that means he didn't know what qualifies as "overtaking," too.

Exactly. The whole thing from start to finish is, well, squishy. A multi billion dollar sport should have clear rules.
